Job Summary: The Mechanical Designer role is responsible for assisting in the design and development of transformers and related components. As a fully competent designer, the Mechanical Designer is capable of independent work, has developed basic technical skills, and is experienced in engineering practices. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams and supports the execution of design tasks while ensuring compliance with industry standards. This role will be onsite in Athens, GA. Relocation Assistance is available. Responsibilities Independently Design and develop transformer related enclosures, assemblies, and related components under the guidance of more experienced engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA). Contribute to failure analysis efforts by collecting data and assisting in identifying potential causes under supervision. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, supply chain, sales, and customer service to ensure successful integration of designs into production. Prepare and maintain basic engineering documentation, including design notes, reports, and test results, under close supervision. Participate in design reviews and contribute to discussions by providing data and technical support. Learn and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory requirements to support compliant designs. Support continuous improvement efforts by participating in process and product improvements as directed. Qualifications Associate’s degree in technical field or related technical certification More than 5 years of experience in drafting or mechanical design, with a focus on transformer or related product design. Proficiency with basic design and analysis tools, such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, UL, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements (e.g. DOE) for transformers or components. Strong desire to learn and develop technical skills in transformer or related product design. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Organized, with the ability to manage assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
