View the comprehensive information about the competitive benefits package on our careers page then scroll down to <strong>CENTERS Benefits </strong>(click link to view).</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p>\n<p>The Part-Time Audiovisual (AV) Technician is a member of the Student Center AV team and provides support for events held in the Bloomberg Student Center to include AV equipment setup, testing, operation, and strike-down.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position will work on-site at Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus. JHU is recognized as America’s first research university, a place that has revolutionized higher education in the U.S. and continues to bring knowledge and discoveries to the world. JHU opened its first-ever student center in August 2025.  The 148,000 gross square feet Bloomberg Student Center will transform the student experience by providing spaces, amenities, and opportunities for students who want to socialize, connect, create, and relax.  The building is designed to be a welcoming environment for all Hopkins students while extending an invitation to the community through events, programs, and dining opportunities.​</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Set up, operate, and strike audiovisual equipment in a hospitality and live-event environment</p></li>\n <li>Provide excellent customer service to clients during event</li>\n <li>Troubleshoot AV equipment and replace defective or malfunctioning parts</li>\n <li>Support daily operations for the gaming lounge areas, DMC, and digital studio to assist students with equipment use</li>\n <li>Perform routine inspection of audiovisual systems and equipment</li>\n <li>Support internal audiovisual training of peers</li>\n <li>Assist professional staff with audiovisual equipment recommendations for specific events and for future purchase</li>\n <li>Document troubleshooting procedures and resolutions for future reference</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Education and Experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>A high school diploma or its equivalent</li>\n <li>Currently enrolled Johns Hopkins University student preferred</li>\n <li>Strong working knowledge of AV equipment</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of sound systems</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of projectors and TVs</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of camera and lighting techniques</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Skills and Abilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Excellent customer service, organization, communication, and problem solving skills</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Mac and PC computers</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Work Environment and Physical Demands</h2>\n<p><strong>Work</strong><strong> Environment</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Office and events environment</li>\n <li>Maintain flexible hours for occasional events that may occur on weekends and evenings</li>\n <li>Non-smoking environment</li>\n <li>Moderate to loud noise</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to traverse throughout the arena and campus.
