    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>NaphCare is hiring an experienced <strong>Director of Nursing (DON)</strong> to join our team of medical professionals in the <strong>Alabama Department of Corrections-Staton Correctional Facility in Elmore, AL</strong><strong>.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The <strong>Director of Nursing </strong>is instrumental in fostering a positive work environment for all nurses and support staff. You will lead by example and set clear expectations and direction for their work, communicate practice changes, advocate for nursing needs, offer guidance and support, collaborate with other staff members and be involved in recruiting, coaching and mentoring new nursing staff.  All work is performed in compliance to standards and adherence to regulations.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Job Duties / Responsibilities</u></strong></p>\n<p>The <strong>Director of Nursing (DON) </strong>is responsible for managing all aspects of our nursing staff to ensure our patients in residence receive quality care that protects their rights, dignity and health. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Collaborating with medical, mental health and correctional staff to enhance quality patient care while maintaining a safe and secure work environment</li>\n <li>Leading Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities</li>\n <li>Managing nursing operations, resources, budgets, and staffing schedules, hiring and training of new staff, and conducting performance evaluations</li>\n <li>Ensuring staff adhere to current and new policies and procedures and company Code of Conduct</li>\n <li>Effectively communicate with healthcare staff and correctional staff to coordinate patient care with providers outside of the facility</li>\n <li>Monitoring compliance with site-specific and company policies and procedures, taking appropriate corrective action, and ensuring compliance with ACA, NCCHC standards</li>\n <li>Ensuring all heath care related equipment and supplies, including pharmaceuticals and over the counter medications, are appropriately stocked and available at all times</li>\n <li>Supporting staff in developing and maintaining problem-solving and nursing diagnoses competency</li>\n <li>Conducting daily clinical rounds to all designated areas of responsibility to observe and review documentation, orders, and patient care plans, and ensuring objectives are understood and practiced by the nursing staff</li>\n <li>Conducting educational classes, in-service training and training staff on new procedures/policies  </li>\n <li>Mitigating risks by proactively addressing potential hazards, including dangerous work conditions, health and safety concerns and reporting issues to company leadership and facility management</li>\n <li>Participating in all monthly, quarterly, and annual meetings as assigned and required in accordance with contract compliance</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Experience / Requirements / Qualifications</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within <strong><strong>state of Alabama</strong></strong></li>\n <li>Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred)</li>\n <li>Three years of clinical and progressive management experience in a government or private organization related to comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional healthcare or acute care setting</li>\n <li>Ability to manage complex staffing matrices and clinical supplies</li>\n <li>Excellent communication skills with proven experience leading, managing, and coaching medical staff through complex Human Resource issues and challenges.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services.</li>\n <li>Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information</li>\n <li>Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements</li>\n <li><strong>Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Physical Capabilities:</strong></p>\n<p>Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Why Join NaphCare?</strong></p>\n<p>NaphCare is one of the largest providers of healthcare services to correctional facilities throughout the US, and we are growing.
