This role ensures that equipment is properly maintained and operational, supporting the company&rsquo;s ability to serve its customers.</p><p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li><strong>Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance</strong>: Service department trucks, tractors, landscape management equipment, and perform automotive &amp; heavy truck repairs.</li><li><strong>General Repair</strong>: Conduct general repairs of department equipment.</li><li><strong>Metal Fabrication and Welding</strong>: Fabricate metal parts and perform welding as necessary.</li><li><strong>Emergency Repairs</strong>: Provide emergency services for vehicles and landscape management equipment.</li><li><strong>Skill Development</strong>: Keep mechanical skills updated for servicing various types of equipment.</li><li><strong>Parts Ordering</strong>: Order parts as needed for repairs, with Shop Manager&rsquo;s approval when required.</li><li><strong>Collaboration</strong>: Maintain positive working relationships with co-workers in the shop and other departments.</li><li><strong>Documentation</strong>: Complete work orders to properly document service and repair activities.</li><li><strong>Building Maintenance</strong>: Perform general building maintenance tasks as assigned.</li><li><strong>Snow Removal</strong>: Assist with snow removal during the winter months.</li><li><strong>Timely Service</strong>: Ensure company vehicles are serviced promptly to enable continuous customer service.</li><li><strong>Communication</strong>: Report any major mechanical problems or safety concerns to the Shop Manager.</li><li><strong>Timekeeping</strong>: Accurately record daily work hours in the company&rsquo;s time system.</li><li><strong>Leadership</strong>: Lead by example and provide guidance on policies and procedures for other shop employees, including attendance, conduct, and dress code.</li><li><strong>Equipment Operation</strong>: Operate equipment such as trucks, bobcats, compactors, trenchers, and masonry saws.</li><li><strong>Workstation Maintenance</strong>: Keep workstations and equipment clean and organized.</li><li><strong>Safety Compliance</strong>: Ensure adherence to company safety policies and procedures at all times.</li><li><strong>Additional Tasks</strong>: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.</li></ul><p><strong>Working Conditions</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li><strong>Indoor/Outdoor Work</strong>: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors during all seasons.</li><li><strong>Weather Exposure</strong>: Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, or cold.</li><li><strong>Noise Levels</strong>: The work environment typically involves moderate noise; a commercial driver&rsquo;s license (CDL) is helpful.</li></ul><p><strong>Experience</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li><strong>Mechanic Experience</strong>: At least 1-3 years of experience as a Service Technician or Mechanic, with knowledge of automotive and small engines.</li><li><strong>Heavy Equipment</strong>: Experience working on heavy equipment such as bobcats, loaders, and skid steers used in landscape installation is required.</li><li><strong>Metal Fabrication</strong>: Previous experience in metal fabrication is preferred.</li><li><strong>Equipment Operation</strong>: Experience operating trenchers, excavators, loaders, bobcats, or skid steers is preferred.</li></ul><p><strong>Specific Requirements</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li><strong>Mechanical and Electrical Knowledge</strong>: Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.</li><li><strong>Manual Transmission</strong>: Ability to operate vehicles with manual transmission.</li><li><strong>Computer Skills</strong>: Basic computer skills to update computerized work orders and systems.</li><li><strong>Leadership</strong>: Demonstrated leadership skills.</li><li><strong>Problem Solving</strong>: Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues efficiently.</li><li><strong>Independence</strong>: Ability to work alone or as part of a team, following written and oral instructions.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li><strong>Standing/Walking</strong>: Stands and walks for long periods throughout the day.</li><li><strong>Lifting</strong>: Frequently lifts objects from the ground and consistently lifts up to 50 pounds;
