Description

Overview Electric Boat is the premier designer and builder of nuclear powered submarines for the US Navy and we are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth! We are looking for people who want to learn and grow within our Lead Bonder Department as we continue to build the most advanced submarines. Interested in learning a new trade? Apply today! As long as you are eager and willing to learn, we will provide training to teach you how to excel as a Lead Bonder. Working with lead (a heavy metal) and other various metals, a lead bonder is required to interpret construction drawings with basic mathematical ability. Job tasks include layout, cutting, assembly and installation of lead panels inside of lead bays, including caulking of the lead panel into place (this is done with pneumatic process of chiseling it into place). Must be able to be a designated lead worker/heavy metal employee (this includes a yearly physical and blood work) and be capable of becoming/maintaining qualification as radiation worker. Individuals will be required to lift up to 40 lbs. to support the task of installing and manufacturing. Showering at the end of shifts and changing into none contaminated clothes on site required for lead working tasks. Individuals need to develop a working knowledge of structural fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations. Work assignments will be accomplished using company drawings, test documents, technical manuals, and shipyard procedures.
