    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>Job Description</strong><strong>:</strong>&nbsp; <strong>Dental Assistant&nbsp;</strong></p><h1>Reports to: Dental Manager</h1><h1>Status: Non-Exempt, Permanent</h1><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>BACKGROUND:&nbsp;</strong>The Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley is a 501(c)3, nonprofit, community health clinic, located in San Jose, California. &nbsp;We serve people from all walks of life, regardless of race, creed, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or disability and take pride in serving our diverse patients and clients. &nbsp;Besides having a highly talented <a href=\"http://www.indianhealthcenter.org/medical.html\" target=\"_blank\">medical</a> and <a href=\"http://www.indianhealthcenter.org/dental.html\" target=\"_blank\">dental</a> department, the Indian Health Center also has an outstanding <a href=\"http://www.indianhealthcenter.org/counseling.html\" target=\"_blank\">counseling</a> department, <a href=\"http://www.indianhealthcenter.org/cwo.html\" target=\"_blank\">community wellness</a> center and two <a href=\"http://www.indianhealthcenter.org/wic.html\" target=\"_blank\">WIC (Women Infants and Children)</a> offices, one in San Jose and the other in Mountain View.</p><h4>&nbsp;</h4><h4>POSITION SUMMARY: &nbsp;Perform chairside assisting, sterilization and infection control, inventory and ordering, occasional front desk duties, patient education and some outreach, and general support for the dental team. This position requires evening hours.</h4><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>WORKING CONDITIONS</strong>:&nbsp;</p><h1>Minimum Qualifications:</h1><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Dental Assistant Certificate in good standing for DA</li><li>X-ray license&nbsp;</li><li>Minimum of 5 years experience in general dentistry, preferably in public health&nbsp;</li><li>Superlative customer service skills</li><li>Knowledge of and ability to relate to the American Indian community and other minority populations</li><li>Fluency in English/Spanish a plus&nbsp;</li><li>Possession of a current California driver&rsquo;s license and automobile insurance</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p>Physical Requirements:</p><ul><li>Ability to sit for extensive period of time doing computer work and answering the phone</li><li>Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination for computer entry</li><li>Ability to lift up to 35 pounds</li><li>Ability to stoop, squat or bend frequently</li><li>Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with clients and professional staff</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Working Conditions:</strong></p><p>Exposure to all patient elements, including communicable disease and blood borne pathogens. &nbsp;Will be working in a fast paced environment which can be stressful and constantly changing conditions. Normal working hours are from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm with one hour for lunch break.
