This role will play a key part in engineering complex, high-automation projects, working closely with project managers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams throughout the full project lifecycle. The ideal candidate is a self-driven engineer with deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><ul><li>Provide engineering for the implementation of projects within the automated material handling industry to meet each customer’s unique requirements.</li><li>Work closely with Project Managers on implementing the full project lifecycle including design drawings and layouts, interfacing with suppliers, developing installation packages, and supporting installation.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while meeting project schedules and budgets.</li><li>Review customer specifications to ensure compliance.</li><li>Use of AutoCAD software for compilation of drawings</li><li>Perform engineering calculations to support design work.</li><li>Participate in design review and customer review meetings.</li><li>Conduct site inspections to validate proper installation of equipment (as needed).</li><li>Support suppliers and subcontractor selections through quotation analysis.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.</li><li>Provide mentoring to other team members within the department.</li><li>Support the continuous improvement of mechanical engineering standard documentation and procedures to improve the quality and efficiency of the Mechanical Engineering department.</li><li>Take ownership of the assigned Mechanical Engineering responsibilities of a project to ensure success.</li><li>Participation in risk assessment meetings.</li></ul><p><strong>KNOWLEDGE &amp; SKILL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></p><ul><li>BS Mechanical Engineering or other relevant field or equivalent work experience.</li><li>8+ years of relevant experience in standard design of relevant material handling equipment and general operational knowledge of distribution centers with a focus on automated warehouse technology.</li><li>Proficiency in CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CET, NiC, HyCAD).</li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel).</li><li>Must understand industry engineering concepts and practices.</li><li>Ability to interact with all levels of management, clients, and vendors.</li><li>Possess and maintain a high degree of safety awareness during the design phase.</li><li>Technical understanding and primary experience in the processing of projects.</li><li>Professional experience in a comparable position is desirable.</li><li>Familiarity with Conveyor/Sortation, Goods-To-Person, AS/RS, AGVs, AMRs, Case &amp; Piece Picking or Palletizing &amp; Depalletizing Systems a plus.</li></ul><p><strong>PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES:</strong></p><ul><li>Attention to detail.</li><li>Fast paced multi-tasker.</li><li>Good organizational skills.</li><li>Strong work ethic.</li><li>Solution-oriented thinking and strength in communications.</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently, retain a sense of urgency and meet strict timelines.</li><li>Responding to communications and following up in a timely manner.</li><li>Strong leadership and collaboration skills.</li><li>Strong teamwork skills with a proven ability to interact and collaborate effectively with other disciplines to convey technical requirements and design considerations.</li><li>Work Conditions</li><li>Sitting in front of a computer for extended periods of time will be required.</li><li>Traveling (minimal) as needed for project support including overnight travel for site visits and installation inspections.</li></ul><p><strong>Why work for Storage Solutions - A Jungheinrich Company?</strong></p><p><em>Our greatest asset is our people.
