Provides technical specialist experience in the monitoring of construction and installation of new and replacement elevators and chairlifts at schools. Provides technical guidance and assistance to less skilled employees and assists in the training of employees. Ensures elevators and chairlifts are performing at their optimal efficiency.</p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  </p>\n<p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)</p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Extensive knowledge in servicing elevators and chairlifts;</p></li>\n <li><p>Considerable knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards;</p></li>\n <li><p>Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps;</p></li>\n <li><p>Critical thinking and problem-solving skills;</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to work independently and part of a team and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction;</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to perform arithmetic calculations;</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on elevator and chairlifts;</p></li>\n <li><p>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE</p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>High school diploma or equivalent;</p></li>\n <li><p>Ten years of experience directly related to elevator and chairlift installation and repair;</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience in servicing elevators and chairlifts, including software updates;</p></li>\n <li><p>Experience with multiple elevator manufacturers;</p></li>\n <li><p>An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong></strong></p>\n<p>CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS</p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Hold a valid Electrical License (SP-EL) and/or accredited certifications;</p></li>\n <li><p>Within twelve months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards;</p></li>\n <li><p>Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to the State of NC requirements.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li><p>Factory certification by one or more elevator manufacturers.</p></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p>\n<li><p>Performs complex level work in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting elevators and chairlifts within WCPSS.</p></li>\n<li><p>Provides technical specialist experience in the monitoring of construction and installation of new and replacement elevators and chairlifts at all school facilities.</p></li>\n<li><p>Provides technical guidance and assistance to less skilled employees and assists in the training of employees.</p></li>\n<li><p>Ensures elevators and chairlifts are performing at their optimal efficiency.</p></li>\n<li><p>Responds to assigned work orders relating to elevators and chairlifts; troubleshoots and ensures that the appropriate corrective measures are performed to provide a solution.</p></li>\n<li><p>Replaces faulty or defective elevators and chairlifts.</p></li>\n<li><p>Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed.</p></li>\n<li><p>Adheres to laws, regulations, and requirements set forth in the WCPSS safety procedures/policies.</p></li>\n<li><p>Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintaining a safe work environment.</p></li>\n<li><p>Performs other related duties, as assigned.</p></li>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p>WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</p>\n<p>This job operates in in an indoor and outdoor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, hand/power tools, etc. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to seventy-five pounds of force. The work requires the ability to operate automotive equipment.
