Description

Description Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. (ZNE) is currently seeking an Engineer III, Mechanical for a direct hire position located in our Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC engineering office. This is an in-office position in either our Stonington, Ct or Charlotte, Nc office. Successful candidate will be relied upon to perform a variety of engineering and design activities involving power plant upgrades and/or new power plant projects under the supervision of senior engineering staff Experience with feasibility studies, equipment reliability issues, system modifications and upgrades to improve safety and reliability is desirable. Successful candidate will develop and review calculations, modifications, and design change packages. Individual will possess technical knowledge of the mechanical discipline and ability to work on project teams with other engineers to assist in evaluating conditions and developing design changes which will improve plant performance, safety, and reliability. Education Required (minimum): BS in mechanical, chemical, or nuclear engineering from an ABET accredited university. Experience Required (minimum): 6 years (minimum) of mechanical engineering experience (or equivalent) is required. Other Required Qualifications (minimum): All applicants must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as presentation skills. Presentation to client review boards of developed design documents required. Proficiency in Mathcad, Microsoft Office software, (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required. Effective time management skills required as position may involve working on several projects concurrently. Ability to pass security and drug screening and maintain unescorted commercial nuclear power plant access is required. Successful candidate required to understand and comply with company policies, procedures, and processes. Overtime work is required at times. Travel to client sites required with periods of on-site field/office work. Ability to perform walk downs of equipment in an industrial plant environment, to include climbing ladders, accessing security-controlled areas, and entering confined spaces and controlled hazardous areas required. Certain positions at Zachry Nuclear involve access to information and technology subject to export controls under U.S. law.
