General Dynamics Mission Systems, alongside our partner Austal USA, built 19 Independence-class Littoral Combat Ships. Now that these ships are in the fleet, our San Diego office supports their modernization and sustainment — ensuring every ship remains mission ready. </p><p> </p><p>The role has three areas of focus: </p>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Oversee software releases ships by building software installation packages, and managing version control baselines, supporting the quality assurance and documentation processes that keep the LCS fleet certified and operationally ready.</li>\n   <li>Provide QA support by helping the team build Quilty Assurance workbooks and manage the execution of Test and Inspection plans.  In support of this role maintain a database of GDMS and sub-contractor employee certifications. </li>\n   <li>Provide backup support to logistics by supporting the receiving and processing of material </li>\n  </ul><p> </p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Review engineering documentation, reports, specifications, and drawings to ensure integrity of the documentation prior to release or change, including technical data packages for LCS combat and mission systems.</li>\n   <li>Provide clerical support in logging, filing, and tracking items in the data management library.</li>\n   <li>Compile release packages ensuring all documentation is present and accurate.</li>\n   <li>Support logistics occasionally with receiving material or pulling/kitting material in support of LCS sustainment activities.</li>\n   <li>Learn and apply NAVSEA Technical Specification TS9090-310H (AIT Manual) and associated Standard Items (SIs), developing working familiarity with the Quality Assurance framework that governs Alteration Installation Team (AIT) shipboard work.</li>\n   <li>Support development and maintenance of the AIT Quality Assurance Workbook IAW Section 3.11 of TS9090-310H, with particular focus on Section 6 (Test and Inspection Plans) and Section 7 (Test and Inspection Records) to ensure each alteration is fully documented from planning through completion.</li>\n   <li>Assist in building Test and Inspection Plans (TIPs) that capture all inspection and verification points — including (I) Inspection, (V) Verification, (Q) Quality Assurance, and (G) Government Notification hold points — for each alteration or modernization project.</li>\n   <li>Track and manage Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) throughout the installation lifecycle, ensuring records are completed, signed, and traceable to requirements at each inspection point.</li>\n   <li>Interface regularly with project leads, AITs, and subcontractors as part of the three-party QA structure (AIT, AIT Manager/OSIC, NSA/RMMCO) to coordinate OQE deliverables, monitor submission status, and escalate gaps before they impact program milestones or ship certification.</li>\n   <li>Support QA oversight activities including surveillances, Trouble Reports, and audits in accordance with the AIT Manager’s Quality Assurance Program (AMQAP).</li>\n   <li>Maintain a database of GDMS and sub-contractor employee certifications. Provide reports on expiring certifications and take an active role in ensuring the company has required certifications. </li>\n  </ul><p> </p><p> </p><p><strong>What You'll Experience:</strong></p>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Support active modernization programs including Naval Strike Missile (NSM) integration, LCS Network Modernization, and LCS Mission Package Modernization.</li>\n   <li>Provide material and documentation support to ships deployed to 5th and 7th Fleet, including spare parts coordination and engineering problem resolution.</li>\n   <li>Work within a structured, three-party Naval QA process governing shipboard alteration work, gaining direct experience with NAVSEA-level documentation standards.</li>\n   <li>Participate in surveillance activities, Trouble Report tracking, and audit support, building a working understanding of how Navy alteration quality is assessed and enforced.</li>\n   <li>Ensure accuracy and organization of product design documents, drawings, and specifications.</li>\n   <li>Track, log, and manage important data and documentation to established baselines.</li>\n   <li>Review and approve engineering reports and ensure all necessary documents are complete.</li>\n   <li>Support internal and external audits while maintaining a secure and accurate document trail.</li>\n   <li>Collaborate with teams to manage changes and meet contract requirements.</li>\n  </ul><p> </p><p><strong>What You Bring to the Table:</strong></p>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Strong attention to detail and the ability to spot inconsistencies.</li>\n   <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Product Data Management (PDM) tools.</li>\n   <li>Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.</li>\n   <li>Ability to work on moderately complex tasks and provide solutions.</li>\n   <li>High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 3 years of relevant experience.</li>\n  </ul><p> </p><p><strong>What Sets You Apart:</strong></p>\n  <ul>\n   <li>Familiarity with NAVSEA TS9090-310H (AIT Manual) or NAVSEA Standard Items, including Test and Inspection Plans, OQE requirements, and the AIT QA Workbook structure.</li>\n   <li>Experience supporting naval shipbuilding or sustainment programs such as the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) or DDG programs.</li>\n   <li>Familiarity with naval strike systems integration, including programs such as the Naval Strike Missile (NSM).</li>\n   <li>Experience with AI tools to enhance processes and innovate.</li>\n   <li>Strong multi-task, time management, and organizational skills while maintaining focus on details.</li>\n   <li>Skilled at understanding work implications and offering recommendations.</li>\n   <li>A proactive approach to maintaining data integrity and security.</li>\n   <li>Familiarity with managing technical data for contracts and approvals.</li>\n  </ul></li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Salary Note</h2>This estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
