The New York Times' Advertising team is looking for a Head of Industry for Culture and Entertainment who will oversee categories across the country within Entertainment, Fine Arts, and Live Entertainment space. This responsibility includes working strategically both externally with clients, agency partners, and internally with internal teams to maximize revenue by selling our advertising offerings. About the Role As the Head of Industry for Culture and Entertainment you are an experienced people manager who will manage the bandwidth and work product of your team of sellers, leading them to exceed sales goals. Through a consultative approach, you will pitch to clients our full New York Times portfolio, which includes The Athletic, NYT Cooking, Wirecutter, NYT News, Games, Audio, and more. As well as lead a team to establish new business within your vertical by being a subject matter expert on our portfolio's offerings. This is a hybrid role based in our New York headquarters. You can typically expect to be in the office 3 days per week. Responsibilities: Lead development of a growth oriented sales strategy for your business Manage a team of sellers through a player-coach approach Work with other teams including planning, operations, measurement, product, strategy, and creative to ensure we are maximizing our advertising revenue and profitability Understand latest technologies and trends that are affecting our business, including platforms, content, and formats, and new products Be a strategic consultant, translating client goals into integrated, multi-platform advertising solutions across all NYT offerings Develop vertical strategies to achieve annual revenue goals while maintaining an active sales pipeline Ensure the best client service, execution, and long-term partnership growth Represent The New York Times at industry events and as a category expert; travel as needs require Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world Basic Qualifications: 10+ years of experience of track record in managing successful teams, revenue growth, and collaboration 10+ years of established experience in sales, with deep, trusted client relationships. Extensive experience in digital and social advertising across platforms (desktop, mobile, app, branded content, video, audio, social, live) Experience diplomatically navigating complex team member relationships Engage with clients at the highest level, open doors and unlock opportunities for your sales team. Negotiate and close transformative, groundbreaking, multi-year partnership deal Preferred Qualifications: An understanding of the future of journalism and the technologies that will transform NYT storytelling, and how to apply to media business. Sales Experience in the culture and entertainment vertical REQ-019817 The annual base pay range for this role is between: $245,000 — $260,000 USD For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock.
