Job Summary
At the direction of the Director of Career Academies, the Career & Technical Education (CTE) coach will assist the CTE team in the tasks of providing leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services in CTE courses. Approximately 75% of time will be spent in schools working directly with CTE teachers and teams providing guidance, support, and mentoring, particularly working with CTE teachers in their first three years of service.
What you will do
Provides mentoring and coaching for academic and occupationally licensed CTE teachers during their first three years in the classroom.
Plans and facilitates professional learning opportunities that are specific to the needs of CTE teachers.
Collaborates with teachers, administrators, students, parents, other district personnel, and community organizations for the purpose of implementing and maintaining excellent CTE services and/or programs.
Collaborates with teachers to identify resources aligned to standards that supplement student learning and support attainment of industry certifications.
Aids teachers in the development and revision of scope and sequence documents that incorporate state standards, CTSO experiences, and certification training.
Works with HR to guide occupationally licensed teachers through the process of obtaining full certification.
Participates in collaborative curriculum development and grade-level and/or school activities including school-based enterprises.
Collects, analyzes, and uses data to make informed decisions about professional learning opportunities.
Supports the overall vision of the college and career readiness department to promote key priorities of Work-Based Learning, Academies of Nashville, early postsecondary opportunities, and other interdisciplinary connections (STEAM, ACT, AVID, etc.)
Provides coaching for teachers that sponsor Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), promotes the expansion of CTSOs, and assists with coordination of student competition events, meetings, and other activities.
Education Qualifications
Master's Degree from an accredited institution in a related field Preferred
Experience Qualifications
Experience coaching or mentoring other teachers or adult learners is Preferred
Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching of students
Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of CTE education and/or specialty area
Instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learner,
Communication and collaboration with Parents, educators, students and others
