The candidate will specialize in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems specifically on Vanhool diesel-powered double-decker buses. This position plays a critical role in ensuring passenger comfort and system reliability across our bus fleet.</p><h3><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></h3><ul><li><p>Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC systems on Vanhool double-decker buses.</p></li><li><p>Perform regular preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, compressors, evaporators, and blowers.</p></li><li><p>Work with both rooftop and underfloor-mounted HVAC units specific to multi-level buses.</p></li><li><p>Troubleshoot electrical and electronic HVAC control systems using diagnostic tools.</p></li><li><p>Recover, recharge, and handle refrigerants in compliance with EPA standards.</p></li><li><p>Maintain accurate service records and report all work performed.</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians on broader bus maintenance tasks when needed.</p></li><li><p>Ensure HVAC work meets all safety and compliance regulations.</p></li><li><p>Respond to road calls and service interruptions related to climate control systems.</p></li><li><p>Maintain inventory of HVAC-related parts and tools.</p></li></ul><h3><strong>Requirements:</strong></h3><ul><li><p>Vocational or technical training in HVAC systems preferred.</p></li><li><p>3+ years of HVAC technician experience, preferably in commercial vehicle or heavy-duty transport applications.</p></li><li><p>Experience working with R134a and/or R1234yf refrigerants.</p></li><li><p>EPA Section 608 Certification (Type II or Universal) required.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of diesel engine systems and bus electrical wiring schematics a plus.</p></li><li><p>Valid driver's license, CDL not required.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work in confined spaces and on elevated platforms.</p></li><li><p>Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</p></li><li><p>Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.</p></li></ul><h3><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></h3><ul><li><p>Prior experience servicing HVAC on transit, coach, or double-decker buses.</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with brands like Carrier, Thermo King, Valeo, or Spheros.</p></li></ul><h3><strong>Work Schedule:</strong></h3><ul><li><p>Full-time: [Weekends and/or on-call duty required]</p></li></ul><h3><strong>Benefits:</strong></h3><ul><li><p>Competitive hourly wage + overtime</p></li><li><p>Health, dental, and vision insurance</p></li></ul>",
