Description

Your role: As the Lead Unreal Engine Programmer, you will take strategic and operational leadership of the Programming Department while keeping a solid, hands-on understanding of Unreal Engine 5 and C++. You are responsible for shaping the technical vision, ensuring efficient workflows, and guiding a team of programmers to create high-quality Double-A games for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. Your leadership will drive innovation, foster cross-departmental collaboration, and ensure the successful delivery of our projects in line with Aesir’s long-term goals. The kind of stuff you`ll be doing: Your day-to-day work combines leadership with technical direction: Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Programming Department, aligning goals and processes with Aesir’s corporate objectives. Set the technical direction of our projects, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with industry best practices. Oversee testing strategies (Unit, Smoke, Integration, Feature, and Functional Tests) to safeguard quality. Coach, mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and innovation. Coordinate and collaborate closely with other departments (Art, Design, Tech-Art, QA) to enable the integration of new features and enhancements. Initiate and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and stability within the Programming Department. Communicate proactively with the management team to ensure alignment of corporate objectives and departmental requirements. Who are we looking for: We are seeking a proven technical leader with a passion for Unreal Engine and game development. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in games and/or software engineering, including several years in a senior or supervisory role. Solid knowledge of C++ and experience with Unreal Engine 4/5, with the ability to set direction and guide technical discussions. Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a programming team, including setting goals, providing feedback and supporting professional growth. Strong understanding of software architecture and modern development workflows. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written, and the ability to foster cross-departmental collaboration. A high level of strategic thinking combined with sufficient hands-on technical skills to provide guidance and direction. Main responsibilities Provide strategic and operational leadership of the Programming Department in line with Aesir’s corporate goals. Ensure quality standards and timely delivery of all programming tasks within the financial framework of the company. Drive the adoption of effective technologies and best practices in Unreal Engine development. Plan and manage training and development measures to strengthen the team’s expertise. Conduct regular feedback sessions, evaluations and 1:1s to ensure continuous development and clear goal-setting. Promote cross-departmental collaboration to maximize synergies and project success. Develop and maintain frameworks to monitor and ensure technical quality.
