Deckhands handle lines and rigging to launch or dock the boat and perform custodial and/or general maintenance tasks as directed. Deckhand provides a high level of customer service to all riders. Our crew may be required to report to multiple locations including Brooklyn, Manhattan, and NJ.<br><br><strong>Pay</strong><ul><li>Deckhands $18-19/ hr</li><li>Senior Deckhands $21/ hr</li><li>Licensed Mate $25/ hr</li></ul><strong>Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</strong><ul><li>Handle mooring lines to dock or undock the vessel</li><li>Responsible for getting underway, mooring, anchoring, handling lines, and bridge operations in all weather conditions</li><li>Perform lookout duties while underway, including watching for other vessels and monitoring the waterway for potentially unsafe conditions</li><li>Assist in boarding and disembarking of passengers</li><li>Assist with filling water, bunkering fuel, unloading black water, connecting and disconnecting shore power as directed</li><li>Perform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property, including maintenance and construction tasks as assigned and minor engineering repairs and rounds as directed</li><li>Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism</li><li>Maintain passenger count</li><li>Work to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivity</li><li>Assist with training of crew as directed</li><li>Seek continuous improvement</li><li>Assist the Captain in ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations</li><li>Assist the Captain in ensuring the vessel is in an inspection-ready condition at all times</li><li>Monitor passenger &amp; crew member safety issues on the boat. Ensure that safety equipment is utilized and appropriate guidelines are followed for all tasks involving physical risk or hazardous materials</li><li>Participate in meetings, training, drills and safety audits as required by USCG &amp; company policy</li><li>Develop the understanding of all phases of shipboard safety procedures and knowledge of the location and use of all firefighting and safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, fire stations, life preservers, work vest, and life floats)</li><li>Use proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)</li><li>Report safety, operational, and environmental issues to your direct supervisor immediately</li><li>Additional job duties assigned</li></ul><strong>Minimum Qualifications:</strong><ul><li>Excellent customer service skills</li><li>Must be able to lift 50 lbs</li><li>Ability to politely interact with passengers</li><li>Ability to work in fast-paced, quickly-changing environment</li><li>Previous marine experience preferred</li><li>Valid TWIC or ability to obtain</li><li>Knowledge of line handing and knot tying or ability to learn</li></ul><strong>Job Type: </strong>Part-Time<br><strong>Pay: </strong>$18.00 - $25.00 per hour<br><br><strong>Schedule:</strong><ul><li>10 hour shift</li><li>12 hour shift</li><li>4 hour shift</li><li>8 hour shift</li><li>Holidays</li><li>Weekends as needed</li></ul><strong>Experience:</strong><ul><li>maritime: 1 year (Preferred)</li></ul><strong>License/Certification:</strong><ul><li>Driver's License (Preferred)</li></ul><strong>Ability to Relocate:</strong><ul><li>New York, NY 10014: Relocate before starting work (Required)</li></ul><strong>Work Location: </strong>In person",
