Founded in 1970, we’re one of the largest and longest operating hunger relief organizations in Chicago. We also provide free, trauma-informed mental health counseling and other social services, such as job and housing assistance. We strive to serve the needs of the whole person — with respect and dignity, always.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Nourishing Hope offers our neighbors nutritious food using a choice-based distribution model and access to life-changing social services including:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Monthly food distribution and additional produce pickup through five different food access programs;</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Home delivery services for older adults, homebound neighbors and neighbors living with disabilities;</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Social services including case management, mental health counseling, job search support, domestic violence intervention, referrals and public benefits assistance (SNAP, healthcare, government forms) for anyone in need.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Nourishing Hope serves tens of thousands of people each year, providing more than 4 million meals through our programs, in addition to partnerships with other community organizations. This year, more than 7,000 low-income neighbors will also receive case management and social services.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Position Summary:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">The Warehouse Operations Coordinator supports food logistics and volunteer management at both of Nourishing Hope’s warehouse locations (1716 W Hubbard and 5151 N Ravenswood). The Coordinator is responsible for day-to-day operations of running a food pantry warehouse including: leading and supervising volunteers, accepting and ensuring food safety of incoming donations, preparing pallets for transport to other locations, managing outgoing and incoming pallets of food, and maintaining warehouse inventory. This position reports to the Warehouse Operations Manager and requires the employee to spend most of the day moving around the site and working with and around other people.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Schedule and Locations:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #222222; font-family: Arial,sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">This is a part-time position with a regular schedule of Thursday and Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm at 5151 N Ravenswood and Saturday and Monday from 7:30am-3:00pm at 1716 W Hubbard. While these days and hours represent the core schedule, some flexibility may be needed to adjust or work occasional additional hours based on operational needs. Such additional hours are not expected to be regular or ongoing.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Essential Job Functions:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Lead shifts of volunteers, which includes teaching them to sort through incoming food donations, to build and wrap pallets, to pack boxes, and to organize the warehouses.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Manage deliveries of food going out to other locations; ensure that the correct food is sent in accordance with truck schedules.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Act as an ambassador to incoming individual volunteers and groups, educating them about the mission and functions of Nourishing Hope and giving tours.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Supports or facilitates training for volunteers and staff as needed to ensure consistent warehouse standards and procedures.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Operate a forklift, pallet stacker, and pallet jacks; safely move pallets of food around the warehouses and in/out of trucks/vans. Training on this equipment can be obtained after hire.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assist the Warehouse Operations Manager in maintaining an inventory of the warehouse and entering inventory into spreadsheets.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Learn, adhere to, and teach Nourishing Hope standards for food safety and quality.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">​​Receive and record donations from vendors and from individual donors.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Assist in maintaining the warehouses: report or correct safety hazards and help with day-to-day facility needs. This can include duties such as helping with trash removal, general cleaning, and occasional snow shoveling.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Communicate needs, issues, and schedules with the Warehouse Operations Manager as well as with other Nourishing Hope staff.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Work with the Warehouse Operations Manager and other team members to maintain and improve food flow systems and inventory.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Will occasionally drive a pantry van between internal sites.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; font-style: italic; font-weight: bold\">Required</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">High school diploma or GED required; higher education is a plus.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\">Experience training or supervising other people.
