Collectively, our dedicated team members honor our over 100-year legacy by providing professional and compassionate care to the patients, families and communities we serve.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Job summary</u></strong>Administers patient care in an area within a hospital or inpatient/observation setting, where acute care patients receive active treatment for injuries, illnesses, medical conditions, or post intervention with assessment. This position is intended for licensed registered nurses with less than one year of experience.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Essential Functions</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Administers bedside patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting under the supervision of a preceptor, leader, and/or charge nurse.</li>\n <li>Assesses patients’ needs and develops/revises individualized plans of care based on their needs and responses. Evaluates patients’ progress toward attaining expected outcomes.</li>\n <li>Respects diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and customers.</li>\n <li>Functions as an advocate for patients and their families.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit/department.</li>\n <li>Serves as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/ or nurse clinician.</li>\n <li>Communicates and collaborates with medical staff and the interdisciplinary team to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.</li>\n <li>Serves as a role model forstaff and supportsthe hospital and nursing department’s goals and strategies.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses data reflective of the patient’s status, and interprets the necessary information to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age- specific needs.</li>\n <li>Coordinates patient care for a defined group and delegatestasks appropriately to team members.</li>\n <li>Documents patient care in a knowledgeable, skillful, and consistent manner, meeting all required and regulatory standards. This includes, but is not limited to, patient assessment, education, medication administration, treatments, and patient safety.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates competency in nursing skills and the use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit/department-specific requisite skills.</li>\n <li>Prioritizes patient care in an ongoing manner in accordance with Evidence-Based Practice Standards of Care.</li>\n <li>Practices effective problem identification and resolution.</li>\n <li>Delegates tasks and duties to healthcare team membersin accordance with the patient’s needs and the team member’s capabilities and qualifications.</li>\n <li>Communicates appropriate information regarding patient condition or unit concerns to other healthcare team members.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates caring practices by providing a compassionate and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.</li>\n <li>Demonstrates awareness of legal issues and patients’ rights.</li>\n <li>Collaborates with the education department and nursing leadership team to effectively transition and support new team members and/or students.</li>\n <li>Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal,state, and local standards.</li>\n <li>Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Contributes to the knowledge and skills of others, and continuously improvesthe quality of healthcare practice and organizational outcomes.</li>\n <li>Participates in and may lead unit level and/or organizational level committees focused on nursing practice and performance improvement.</li>\n <li>Participates in departmental and organizational peer review, mentoring, and coaching regarding professional practice or role performance.</li>\n <li>Practices efficient use ofsupplies and maintains a clean,safe, and organized work area.</li>\n <li>Attends staff development in-services, department meetings, and/or nursing committee meetings.</li>\n <li>Partners with the nursing leadership team to identify professional development needs.</li>\n <li>Assumes responsibility for one’s own professional development and continuing education.</li>\n <li>Actively participates in and attends the Nurse Residency Program as appropriate to role.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Education/Training</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Nursing school graduate.</li>\n <li>Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit/department.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong><u>Licensure/Certification</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida </li>\n <li>Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification</li>\n</ul>",
