    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><strong>Summary:</strong></p>\n<p>The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA)&nbsp; supports the Occupational Therapists&nbsp; by providing treatments and procedures to students who have been determined to require occupational therapy as a related service in the school environment. The OT Assistant may also do routine tasks, such as preparing treatment rooms, under the direction of Occupational Therapists.</p>\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Guide students in therapeutic activities, such as exercises to improve motor skills and functional abilities.</li>\n <li>Lead children who have disabilities in play activities that promote coordination, socialization, and meeting developmental milestones.</li>\n <li>Teach students new ways of accomplishing everyday tasks.</li>\n <li>Instruct students in the use of special equipment—for example, showing a student how to use adaptive devices to simplify meal preparation.</li>\n <li>Record student progress, report to occupational therapists, and other administrative tasks.</li>\n <li>Additional duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>\n<p>To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily. The list below represents the knowledge, skills, and abilities&nbsp; of the position.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Successfully complete an associate's or bachelor's degree from an occupational therapy assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).</li>\n <li>State licensure from the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA)&nbsp;</li>\n <li>Special authorization from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE)</li>\n <li>Previous experience preferred.</li>\n <li>Strong interpersonal communication skills, compassion, patience, adaptability, and attention to detail</li>\n <li>Ability to operate computer</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Supervisory Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>None.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.</li>\n <li>Ability to sit for extended periods of time.</li>\n <li>This position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.</li>\n <li>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.&nbsp;</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Work Environment:&nbsp;</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Ability to work in a high traffic, indoor environment.</li>\n <li>Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>&nbsp;</p>\n<p><i>The information contained in this job description is for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) and is not an exhaustive list of the duties performed for this position. The pay range listed is just one component of NHA's total compensation package.
