Who are we looking for? As a Remediation Field Technician , you will support a diversity of projects in challenging and unique settings. Working with the Environmental Contamination, Assessment and Remediation group in our Portland office , this position offers a variety of projects throughout Oregon and Washington. You will work diligently as an integral member of the GHD team to deliver meaningful information to our clients. You will interface directly with clients, engage with contractors, and be largely responsible for your own work, becoming a trusted point of contact for our clients. Duties will evolve with experience, and no day will be just like the last. In an ever changing world, it requires creativity and innovation to stay ahead. Responsibilities Provide front line operation & maintenance, start-up and troubleshooting for a variety of remediation systems such as soil vapor extraction and dual phase extraction Collect samples of groundwater, surface water, soil vapor, soil and remediation system process samples Conduct daily tailgate safety briefings, prepare field notes, and complete O&M forms/checklists Provide environmental compliance documentation and contractor monitoring Report /specifications production and regulatory standard interpretation Recommendations: Advise managers how to apply a wide variety of existing procedures and precedents. Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents. Improvement/Innovation: Implement improvements and provide feedback on them. Use change management systems and protocols to provide routine support services. Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate risks and to safeguard the environment and the well-being of self and others. Performance Management: Prioritize own workflow and ensure work is completed to the required standards of productivity, quality, and timeliness; use performance management systems to improve personal performance. Education Associate’s degree in physical science, mechanical systems, or related field (relevant on-the-job experience may be considered in place of degree) Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in remediation and Operations & Maintenance Excellent interpersonal skills Strong mechanical diagnostic skills and aptitude Ability to work independently effectively and efficiently to ensure equipment is operating within normal limits Willingness to travel for up to a week at a time Adept at working with a multidisciplinary team in a diversity of challenging conditions Ability to perform physically demanding work for discrete periods of time Experience with general construction and field safety protocols and equipment Ability to analyze field readings, data and operating parameters to optimize system operations Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record Must be able to comply with GHD and our client’s drug free workplace policies Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and ability to prepare comprehensive reports 40-hour HAZWOPER certification preferred This is a field based position Benefits: 401K - Employees are eligible to participate on the first day of the month following 3 months of service Paid time off – Our PTO benefit is designed to provide eligible employees with a period of rest and relaxation, sick, and personal time throughout the year. PTO starts at 16 days per year and increases with years of service Holiday Pay - Holiday pay is provided for eligible employees. GHD observes 9 holidays per year. Holiday pay will be based on the regular set schedule for the employee Wellness Benefit- Regular full-term employees are eligible to participate in the wellness reimbursement program. GHD will reimburse 50% of the cost of the following to maximum of $250.00 reimbursement annually for such items as: Health club membership fees, Home exercise equipment purchases, Bicycles, Race, run & marathon entrance fees, Smoking cessation programs, Weight loss programs (i.e.—Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig), Fitbits and Fitness Tracking devices Salary Range: $ 32.00-$ 54.00 (hourly) based on experience.
