Our expertise span multiple core segments of the heavy highway and bridge construction arena, across Maryland, Virginia and Washington DC.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Summary: </strong>The <strong>Safety Engineer</strong> supports the implementation of health and safety policies, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe work environment across job sites and facilities. This role involves assisting in program development, incident investigation, and collaboration with project teams to foster a culture of safety.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Program Support & Compliance:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring site-specific safety programs (e.g., HASPs) in alignment with company policies and OSHA/ANSI standards.</li>\n <li>Conduct safety audits, inspections, and hazard analyses to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.</li>\n <li>Ensure adherence to training requirements (e.g., OSHA 500) and maintain safety equipment/PPE.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Incident Management & Reporting:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist in investigations of accidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions; document findings and recommend preventive measures.</li>\n <li>Coordinate with project managers and clients for reporting and compliance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Collaboration & Training:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Participate in site orientations and safety training for employees and subcontractors.</li>\n <li>Assist in reviewing safety submittals, AHAs, and work plans for hazard mitigation.</li>\n <li>Support the organization of safety meetings and toolbox talks.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Technical & Administrative Duties:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist in monitoring leading/lagging indicators, analyzing injury/incident trends, and managing case/return-to-work programs.</li>\n <li>Maintain safety documentation and software systems (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Procore).</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Qualifications/Skills Required:</strong></p>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Education & Certifications:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Safety, Occupational Health, or related field.</li>\n <li><strong>Preferred:</strong> OSHA 30-Hour Training or equivalent safety certifications.</li>\n <li><strong>Preferred:</strong> BCSP Construction Health and Safety Technician.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <strong>Experience:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>0-2 years of experience in construction/industrial safety or a related field; previous internships or entry-level roles are welcome.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <strong>Skills:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office.</li>\n <li>Spanish-speaking skills are highly preferred to communicate with diverse teams and stakeholders effectively.</li>\n <li>Experience with Procore or similar construction management software is preferred, as it enhances the ability to manage safety data and compliance efficiently.</li>\n <li>Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> <strong>Additional Requirements</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Willingness to relocate for the project duration if applicable.</li>\n <li>Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Reports to:</strong> Corporate Health and Safety, servicing the Martins VP of Operations. </p>\n<p><strong>Location</strong>: Falls Church, VA</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Comprehensive benefits offered to eligible employees including medical, dental, and vision coverage; life insurance; FSA; short- and long-term disability; identity theft protection; 401(k); employee assistance program; and paid time off.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Equal Employment Opportunity</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Martins Construction is committed to maintaining a working environment that promotes teamwork and that is free of any and all forms of unlawful discrimination and harassment.
