This role is responsible for accurately locating drill heads, guiding drill operators, and ensuring safe, precise installation of underground conduit and fiber pathways. The ideal candidate is safety‑focused, detail‑oriented, and experienced with HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) operations.</span></p><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">You will work closely with drill operators and construction crews to complete projects efficiently and according to engineering specifications.</span></p><p><br></p><h2><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></h2><ul><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Operate locating equipment to track and guide the drill head during HDD operations</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Communicate bore path information clearly to the drill operator throughout the drilling process</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Read and interpret construction plans, bore logs, and utility locates</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Identify underground utilities and ensure safe drilling around existing infrastructure</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Assist with setting up drill rigs, mixing mud, and preparing job sites</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Complete bore logs, as‑built documentation, and daily production reports</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Perform potholing/soft digging to verify utility locations when required</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Ensure all work complies with safety standards, job specifications, and local regulations</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Assist with pulling conduit, installing handholes, and supporting general OSP construction tasks</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Maintain tools, locating equipment, and job site organization</span></p></li></ul><p><br></p><h2><strong>Skills &amp; Qualifications</strong></h2><ul><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">1&ndash;3 years of experience as a Directional Drill Locator (telecom or utilities preferred)</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Strong understanding of HDD operations, bore planning, and underground construction</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Proficiency with locating systems (e.g., DigiTrak, Subsite, or similar)</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Ability to read and interpret utility maps, construction drawings, and bore profiles</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Strong communication skills and ability to work closely with drill operators</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Knowledge of underground utility safety practices and state dig laws</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Valid driver&rsquo;s license and clean driving record</span></p></li><li><p data-start=\"1929\" data-end=\"1960\" data-pasted=\"true\">Valid CDL preferred; ability and willingness to obtain a CDL upon hire required.</p></li></ul><p><br></p><h2><strong>Preferred Experience</strong></h2><ul><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Experience with telecom OSP construction, including:</span></p><ul><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Conduit installation</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Handhole placement</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Fiber installation support</span></p></li></ul></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Familiarity with vacuum excavation equipment</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Understanding of soil conditions and drilling fluids</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Ability to operate HDD rigs (a plus but not required)</span></p></li></ul><p><br></p><h2><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></h2><ul><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Ability to lift 50+ lbs</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods</span></p></li><li><p><span style=\"white-space: pre-wrap;\">Ability to work in trenches, around heavy equipment, and in outdoor environments</span></p></li></ul></div>\n",
