Description

Department Overview We are the Heart & Vascular (formerly Cardiovascular Intermediate Care) unit for OHSU. Our primary patient populations include post-open heart surgery (CABG, heart transplants, VAD, valve replacement, etc.), medical cardiology (ACS, NSTEMI/STEMI, heart failure, etc.) and pre- and post-op vascular surgery (PAD/PVD, vascular bypass, etc.). Our primary teams are Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Cardiology, and we collaborate with PT/OT, Dietitians, Social Work, Case Management, Speech Therapists and other members of the multidisciplinary health care team to provide exceptional care for our patients. Function/Duties of Position You will bring your nursing skills and expertise to our team of specialists working together to provide the best possible care. As an OHSU RN, your care delivery will be consistent with: The Oregon Nurse Practice Act The ANA Scope and Standards of Practice The ANA Code of Ethics The Onsomble Model of the Professional Role™ OHSU cares for acutely ill patients in our Medical, Surgical, and Cardiovascular Intermediate Care Units. We provide the latest evidence-based treatment and have a reputation for effective teamwork. Acute care nurses understand the importance of their independent scope of practice and engage in dependent scope of practice decision making. Acute care nurses also provide patient and family-centered care for the full spectrum of illnesses. Required Qualifications 1 year RN experience BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License BLS and ACLS from AHA required. New hires will be enrolled and required to complete during orientation Ability to perform the job duties with or without accommodation Preferred Qualifications Cardiovascular intermediate or progressive care/step-down unit Management of ventricular assist devices, vascular sheaths, inotropes and vasoactive medications Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certified Heart Failure Nurse (CHFN) Certified Medical/Surgical Registered Nurse Additional Details Length of Orientation Experienced Nurse with more than 1 year of experience: Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Learning Pathway or Orientation experience individualized to the candidate between 2-12 weeks. 4 positions available Why apply to OHSU?
