Development & Communications Coordinator

Job Summary:
The Development and Communications Coordinator is responsible for engaging donors and promoting the organization’s mission through strategic marketing and communication efforts. This position supports the Director of Development with fundraising campaigns, events, community outreach and volunteer coordination in Georgia and South Carolina. The coordinator assists with content creation for social media platforms, gathering impactful stories for newsletters and campaigns, and helping to enhance public visibility. The coordinator contributes to the organization’s long-term donor engagement and growth by assisting with tracking donations and providing timely acknowledgments. The coordinator supports community outreach by connecting with partners and offering informational services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist in maintaining and nurturing relationships with existing individual donors, focusing on
engagement and retention.
• Support the identification and initial engagement of potential new donors.
• Represent the organization in public relations activities, such as managing social media content
related to speaking engagements, program tours, and volunteer projects.
• Assist in researching and identifying potential new local sponsorship opportunities.
• Support the development and implementation of donor giving plans, including recurring giving
programs and major gift initiatives.
• Help execute individual giving campaigns, such as direct appeals, Giving Tuesday, and digital
micro-events.
• Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing fundraising events to increase participation and
revenue.
• Collaborate with the Director of Development, Chief Administrative Officer & program staff to create meaningful materials for fundraising, donor engagement, and stewardship efforts.
• Enter and maintain accurate donor information in UCP’s database, ensuring data integrity and
assisting with donor segmentation.
• Assist in ensuring timely and accurate acknowledgment of donations through letters, emails,
handwritten notes and thank-you calls as directed.
• Help create social media content to promote fundraising campaigns, events, and organizational
updates, ensuring consistent brand messaging across platforms.
• Gather stories and testimonials from those we serve and families we’ve impacted to create compelling content for newsletters, and social media.
• Assist in designing and distributing marketing materials for fundraising campaigns and events,
including flyers, emails, and online advertisements.
• Serve as point of contact for the Bellows and Woodward funds.
• Assist in the planning and execution of events, including fundraisers, community outreach programs, and employee appreciation events.
• Coordinate logistics such as venue communication, catering, and equipment rentals.
• Support on-site setup before events, including arranging seating, decoration, and materials
distribution.
• Assist with post-event breakdown and cleanup, ensuring all materials are accounted for.
EXPERIENCE :
• Minimum 2 years of relevant fundraising or communications/marketing experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to the organization’s mission
• Exceptional customer service skills including consistently professional, helpful, and friendly conduct
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in creating engaging and visually appealing content, including graphics, videos, and
written posts
• Ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and platforms
• Willingness and ability to remain up to date on current trends in fundraising and communications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to contribute ideas for marketing campaigns, content creation, and fundraising strategies
• Approach work as a self-starter, with the ability to identify opportunities for growth and improvement
• Flexibility and the ability to adjust to variable priorities
• Ability and willingness to travel within the 2-state area of GA and SC (estimated 20% travel)
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, marketing, human services, nonprofit management, or related field required Minimum 2 years of relevant fundraising or communications/marketing experience.
Work Environment:
This position may require occasional evening or weekend work for events and donor meetings. The Development & Communications Coordinator will work primarily in an office setting with remote work capability but may also attend events and meetings in the community.
