Job Description
Seasonal Tax Accountants help prepare income tax return forms for individuals & businesses. Reviews financial records, such as prior tax return forms, income statements, and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare return. Computes taxes owed, and completes entries on forms, following tax form instructions and tax tables.
Examples of the duties
Compute taxes owed or overpaid, complete entries on forms, following tax form instructions and tax tables. Prepare or assist in preparing simple to complex tax returns for individuals or businesses. Use all appropriate adjustments, deductions, and credits to keep clients’ taxes to a minimum. Interview clients to obtain additional information on taxable income and deductible expenses and allowances. Review financial records such as income statements and documentation of expenditures to determine forms needed to prepare tax returns. Furnish taxpayers with sufficient information and advice to ensure correct tax form completion. Consult tax law handbooks or bulletins to determine procedures for preparation of atypical returns. Calculate form preparation fees according to return complexity and processing time required. Check data input or verify totals on forms prepared by others to detect errors in arithmetic, data entry, or procedures. Qualifications & Characteristics
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or EA preferred, or actively seeking either credential 3+ years of relevant experience in taxation services Strong technical skills and a deep understanding of at least one to two specific industries Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, client service, technical writing skills and research skills Leadership skills and ability to motivate others in face of tight deadlines or complex situations requiring on the spot thinking Developmental skills to train and mentor team members Who We Are
