The Position The Unit Acquisition Analyst expands and manages LAFH’s affordable housing portfolio by building relationships with property owners and housing partners, securing units, and supporting successful placements. The role oversees housing acquisition, maintains accurate listings, participates in regional coordination efforts, and ensures units meet program standards through inspections and lease compliance reviews. The Specialist facilitates smooth move‑ins by connecting caseworkers with property partners, resolving landlord issues, and processing essential furnishings and payments. This position blends fieldwork with administrative tracking to ensure timely service delivery, strong documentation, and long‑term housing stability for participants. What You'll Do Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners, managers, and housing partners to expand LAFH’s portfolio of affordable and low income units. Conduct proactive outreach—including cold calling, networking, and regional engagement—to identify and secure new housing opportunities for LAFH participants. Acquire and onboard units each month, prioritizing availability within SPA 2, and maintain accurate records of all leads and acquired units. Collect and document required landlord and property information, ensuring compliance with program and contractual standards. Conduct or coordinate habitability inspections and follow up on corrective actions to ensure units meet safety and program requirements. Review leases and lease revisions to ensure alignment with program guidelines and advocate for fair, reasonable, and compliant terms. -rack housing trends, unit progress, and landlord engagement using internal systems and digital platforms, including internal trackers and the LAFH Locations website. Advertise available units through the weekly Hot Leads call, LAFH Locations website, and other regional communication channels. Support caseworkers by connecting them with property partners, facilitating communication, and helping resolve issues that arise during the housing placement process. Support essential furnishing orders, process payment, coordinate delivery, and track outcomes. Participate in case conferencing spaces where housing matches are made and collaborate with regional partners to strengthen housing pathways. Identify new and innovative housing opportunities beyond traditional unit types to expand options for program participants. Educate landlords on Housing First principles and program expectations, provide mitigation support, and advocate on behalf of clients to promote successful placements. Maintain ongoing communication with property partners to strengthen long term relationships and ensure continued unit availability. Attend agency meetings, regional coordination events, and community engagements as assigned. Drive personal or agency vehicles throughout Los Angeles County to conduct outreach, inspections, and landlord engagement activities. Work a flexible schedule, including evenings or weekends when required to support housing access. Perform additional duties that support the facilitation of permanent housing as assigned by the supervisor. What You're Skilled At Building strong, professional relationships with property owners, managers, and housing partners to expand affordable housing opportunities. Understanding the local housing landscape, including affordability trends, neighborhood characteristics, and barriers faced by low income renters. Applying knowledge of tenant–landlord laws, fair housing regulations, and basic lease structures to support compliant and successful placements. Conducting habitability assessments and identifying issues that may impact client safety or program eligibility. Advocating effectively for clients, resolving landlord concerns, and supporting successful transitions into permanent housing. Communicating clearly and professionally—both verbally and in writing—with landlords, caseworkers, and regional partners. Using digital tools, databases, and spreadsheets to track units, document landlord engagement, and maintain accurate records. Solving problems creatively and strategically, especially when navigating complex housing barriers. Working independently in the field and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Spanish fluency preferred but not required.
