Description
Position Summary:
The Repair technician is responsible for repairing any issues on fiberglass hulls, decks and small parts in compliance with takt times. A variety of tasks are performed to repair each boat, requiring the use of both power and non-power hand tools.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Ability to use high-speed pneumatic/battery powered tools (buffers, power sander, etc.) and hand tools safely and effectively.
Spray and repair nonskid gel coat.
Sand and buff problem area to make a smooth, shiny surface.
Paint over thin or damaged areas of gel coat to create flawless surface being sure to match new finish to existing gel coat.
Ability to perform job functions safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment while wearing all required PPE and following safety policy and hazardous material guidelines.
Must practice good housekeeping by keeping work areas clean at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior gel coat and/or autobody experience preferred.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
