About the Opportunity
UJA Federation of Greater Toronto is seeking a passionate, relationship-driven, and highly organized Mobilization Specialist, Activism & Engagement to support community mobilization, advocacy, and grassroots engagement efforts across the Greater Toronto Jewish community.
This role plays an important part in helping to build and activate a growing network of volunteers, advocates, community ambassadors, and emerging leaders who are engaged in civic participation, community action, advocacy campaigns, and public affairs initiatives.
The successful candidate will combine strong organizational and coordination skills with relationship-building, outreach, volunteer engagement, and campaign support experience. This is a dynamic, community-facing role requiring professionalism, initiative, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment supporting multiple campaigns and initiatives simultaneously.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support the development and execution of community mobilization and engagement strategies across advocacy, activism, and public affairs initiatives.
Recruit, engage, and support volunteers, activists, ambassadors, and community leaders participating in campaigns, trainings , events, and community actions.
Help coordinate grassroots organizing efforts, leadership engagement opportunities, and rapid-response mobilization activities.
Support community outreach and relationship-building initiatives across diverse stakeholder groups and community networks.
Coordinate campaign logistics , volunteer communications, engagement tracking, and operational processes to support successful execution of initiatives.
Assist with organizing trainings , workshops, rallies, advocacy events, leadership initiatives, and community engagement opportunities.
Maintaining engagement databases, volunteer tracking systems, outreach lists, and campaign reporting processes.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, community partners, volunteers, and stakeholders to support mobilization objectives and community participation.
Support efforts to strengthen civic participation, Jewish communal engagement, and grassroots leadership development throughout the community.
Qualifications:
Postsecondary education in Political Science, Public Affairs, Communications, Community Development, Nonprofit Management, Jewish Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum 3–5 years of progressive experience in community organizing , grassroots activism, advocacy campaigns, volunteer engagement, public affairs, nonprofit organizations, political campaigns, student leadership, or related fields.
Passionate advocate and visible champion of UJA’s mission, values, and goals, inspiring others through action and unwavering commitment to advancing our shared purpose
Demonstrated experience recruiting, engaging, mobilizing, or coordinating volunteers, activists, ambassadors, supporters, or community stakeholders.
Experience supporting campaigns, advocacy initiatives, grassroots organizing efforts, leadership programs, events, or community engagement activities.
Strong relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and foster community participation.
Excellent organizational, coordination, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and professionalism.
Experience working within Jewish communal organizations, Hillel, student leadership, youth movements, advocacy organizations, or civic engagement initiatives is considered a strong asset.
Passion for Jewish communal life, civic engagement, grassroots organizing, leadership development, and community activism.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience working with CRM, engagement, or volunteer databases is considered an asset.
*This is a full-time permanent position, Union Level 4. Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000 annually, based on experience.
