Description
The admixture pharmacy technician provides timely and accurate pharmaceutical care. Prepares, compounds, packages, labels, and dispenses medication, nutritional products, IV admixture and solutions (e.g., chemotherapy, biotherapy, etc.), and Durable Medical Equipment (DME) according to Bass Cancer Center policies, applicable state and federal regulations. Assists with medicine and supplies inventory management and control including maintaining adequate stock levels, handling investigational drugs and patient assistance inventory control, checking accuracy of pricing, and completing required regulatory documentation. Adheres to all standards, procedures, cleaning protocols, and infection control polices to maintain a safe and sterile medication area, clean rooms, laminar and vertical flow hoods.
Job Responsibilities:
The admixture pharmacy technician is responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of IV admixture and solutions (e.g., chemotherapy, biotherapy, etc.) Assist with medication and supplies inventory management and control. Maintain adequate stock levels. Handle investigational drugs in accordance with established policies and protocols. Manage patient assistance programs and associated inventory control. Check accuracy of inventory pricing and perform required regulatory documentation. Ensure proper storage of medications. Document appropriately in patient medical records. Uphold organization policies, as well as federal, state, and local laws. Ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI). Collaborate with all organizational staff. Perform other duties as required.
