From toddlers to seniors, we feed, shelter, teach, and support our neighbors to build a stronger community. In all aspects of our work, we strive for the highest ethical and performance standards and are guided by the belief that people are to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their present situation or past experiences.</p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Across our 60+ locations, we provide programs in a variety of service areas, including workforce development, children, youth, families, seniors and homeless prevention.&nbsp;</p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The BronxWorks Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) is a mobile unit that works with homeless individuals on the streets, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Since 1995, we have helped street homeless people obtain appropriate services, move to safer environments, and get placed in permanent or long-term transitional housing. The team is composed of outreach workers, case managers and social workers and also partners with psychiatric and medical providers to connect clients with appropriate care.</p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><br></p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>&nbsp;</strong><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia;\"><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></span><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Conduct persistent and compassionate outreach as part of a two-person team.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Engage and build rapport with chronically homeless street individuals in the Bronx.</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Drive agency vehicles for mobile outreach work and to transport clients.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Support licensed clinicians with mobile medical outreach.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Maintain familiarity with social services and resources available within the agency and in the community; provide referrals as appropriate.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Document all interactions with clients.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Perform additional duties as assigned.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">To support 24/7 hours of operation, this position requires evening and weekend availability.</li></ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\"><strong>QUALIFICATIONS&nbsp;</strong></span></p><ul><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">High school diploma or equivalent.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Candidate must have a valid driver&rsquo;s license which has been held for at least 1 year; in the last 3 years, candidate must have obtained no more than 3 license violation points.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bilingual/multilingual preferred but not required.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and basic typing skills.&nbsp;</li><li dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Strong interpersonal communication.</li></ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>&nbsp;</strong><span style=\"font-size: 11pt;font-family: Georgia;\"><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></span><strong>&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\">Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.&nbsp;</span></li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\">Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.&nbsp;</span></li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\">Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.&nbsp;</span></li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\">Ability to climb five flights of stairs, if required to conduct home visits and/or fieldwork.&nbsp;</span></li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\">Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.&nbsp;</span></li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\">Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.&nbsp;</span></li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\">Ability to travel for a minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time and in all types of weather, including inclement weather, if required to conduct home visits and/or field work.&nbsp;</span></li><li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;font-family: Georgia;\"><strong>&lsquo;TB Test required with the first 120 days of employment&rsquo;</strong></span></li></ul><p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><br></p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">BronxWorks seeks to build an inclusive organization grounded in respect for differences.
