Description

The Environments Accelerator team, part of the broader Cloud Foundation group is focused on dramatically reducing the time, complexity, and operational overhead required to provision new environments and datacenters across Datadog infrastructure. In this role, you’ll help design and build the systems that make infrastructure environments reproducible, composable, and increasingly self-service from declarative datacenter configuration and bootstrap orchestration to environment validation and ephemeral infrastructure provisioning. This team operates as an infrastructure R&D pod, partnering closely with a broad range of product, platform, and infrastructure teams. They test innovative patterns for large-scale infrastructure provisioning and operations, such as creating lightweight, temporary datacenter environments designed to accommodate the rapid expansion of AI inference workloads. At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them. What You’ll Do Design and build systems that reduce the operational overhead, cost, and complexity of provisioning new infrastructure environments and datacenters Develop tooling and orchestration patterns for declarative environment bootstrap, dependency coordination, and infrastructure validation Improve the reliability and repeatability of infrastructure provisioning workflows by reducing manual coordination and implicit system dependencies Work across infrastructure domains including Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, identity systems, service bootstrap, and datacenter configuration management Collaborate broadly across baseline infrastructure, platform, and product engineering teams to build reusable environment and provisioning capabilities that support the full Datadog platform stack Help modernize legacy provisioning and bootstrap workflows into reusable, composable platform primitives Contribute to experiments around ephemeral environments, lightweight datacenter footprints, and scalable infrastructure patterns for AI workloads Participate in debugging and operational investigations across complex distributed systems and infrastructure dependencies Who You Are You have experience in Golang or similar systems programming languages You have experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration systems You have demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing scalable automation solutions across multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native tooling to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and reliability You have experience with Linux, CI/CD systems, from deployment automation to debugging You enjoy working on ambiguous infrastructure problems and turning operational complexity into reliable platform abstractions You can independently drive projects from problem definition through implementation while collaborating effectively across teams You have experience building or operating distributed systems, infrastructure platforms, or internal developer tooling You are comfortable debugging across multiple layers of the stack, from orchestration and control planes down to infrastructure and networking systems You think pragmatically about tradeoffs between speed, reliability, maintainability, and operational complexity You communicate clearly and work well with engineers operating in adjacent infrastructure domains Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you’re passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply. Benefits and Growth: New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP) Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing Intra-departmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions Free, global Spring Health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+ Competitive global benefits Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.
