Are you ready to join the world’s largest independent refiner? Valero is on the search for energetic and motivated students to join the Valero Intern Program. The internship program has an opening for a Data Analytics and Automation On-Going Intern who is ready for new and exciting challenges in a fast-paced environment.
The internship will provide practical data analytics experience and will allow intern to apply data extraction, modeling, and analysis concepts and principles to develop the core competencies needed to succeed in a business environment. The start of this internship will be August 2026 through May 2027.
Major Accountabilities:
Assists in the design and development of methods for extracting, modeling, and analyzing data (e.g., data structures, scripts, and Robotic Process Automation) for continuous monitoring of key risk indicators, data driven risk assessments, real-time reporting, and/or automated controls testing for Internal Audit (IA) and respective business partners. Participates in proof-of-concept efforts to assess potential new IA analytics processes, functionalities, and tools to continue the evolution of IA’s data analytics and automation environment. Collects, interprets, and compiles data to complete comprehensive analysis through the use of various applications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Python, Alteryx, Oracle, SQL, VB Script, PowerShell) and provides root cause analysis for issues identified during internal audits and advisory engagements where applicable. Creates and maintains technical documentation to support analysis and automation processes. Assists with the design and development of Power BI dashboards This position is hourly nonexempt status, which means you are eligible for overtime pay.
