    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>NaphCare is hiring a <strong>PRN Dentist </strong>to join our team of medical professionals in the <strong>Polk County Jail </strong>in<strong> Des Moines, IA.</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>As a <strong>Correctional Dentist</strong>, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide dental care to the incarcerated individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have a variety of duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical and dental needs.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p>The <strong>Dentist</strong> is responsible for ensuring quality dental care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Diagnosing, treating, and providing preventative care for patients</li>\n <li>Creating treatment plans and performing dental procedures, such as extractions and restorations</li>\n <li>Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices</li>\n <li>Maintaining accurate and detailed patient dental records</li>\n <li>Perform all dental assessments, radiographic exams, and dental treatment, to include emergency treatment such as oral surgery, restorative dentistry and periodontal therapy within the scope of general dentistry</li>\n <li>Formulate a working diagnosis, develop and implement a treatment plan and evaluate/modify therapeutic regimens to promote positive patient outcomes</li>\n <li>Evaluate all patients returning from offsite dental visits</li>\n <li>Participate in training and orientation of healthcare staff</li>\n <li>Provide oral hygiene education and discharge instructions to all patients seen</li>\n <li>Supervise and coach dental assistant</li>\n <li>Ensure sterilization and disinfection of equipment</li>\n <li>Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ oral health needs</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Experience / Requirements / Qualifications</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD)</li>\n <li>Valid dental license in the state where the facility is located</li>\n <li><p>Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA required)</p></li>\n <li>Current DEA registration</li>\n <li>Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills</li>\n <li>Technical skills in providing a full range of dental services</li>\n <li>Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards</li>\n <li>Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information</li>\n <li>Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements</li>\n <li><strong>Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Physical Capabilities:</strong></p>\n<p>Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Why Join NaphCare?</strong></p>\n<p>NaphCare is one of the largest providers of healthcare services to correctional facilities throughout the US and we are growing.
