Description

Role Summary:  QSAI’s Engineering Support team is looking for an Engineering Support Operations Lead to bridge the gap between day-to-day operations and technical execution. This role is split between our office in Saline and Ford’s VIRTTEX simulator facility in Dearborn. This is a hands-on coordination role that requires a blend of aptitude, organization, and proactive problem-solving. You will serve as the bridge between complex research intent and its physical execution, ensuring that our engineers and human factors researchers can conduct their studies seamlessly and without friction. We like lifelong learners who thrive on technical variety, enjoy project-based workloads, and are excited to apply their skills across different domains (we’re talking about you, generalists!). Location:  Saline, Michigan (In-person) with required travel to Dearborn, Michigan (likely up to 2 days per week). Our “historic schoolhouse” office supports hands-on collaboration, while the VIRTTEX facility in Dearborn requires regular on-site presence for clinical research and operations coordination. What You’ll Do (Essential Functions): @QSAI Lead day-to-day operational support activities for the team, creating structure, ownership, and follow-through across key functions.  Support ongoing coordination with internal and external stakeholders as needed.   Contribute to the continued growth and structure of Engineering Support through planning, coordination, tracking tools, documentation, and process support.  Coordinate procurement-related workflows, including request tracking, prioritization, stakeholder follow-up, and process improvement.  Support and oversee safety compliance and property control activities to ensure consistency, accountability, and operational readiness.  Oversee lab space administration, including organization, and utilization planning.  Design and implement process improvements to reduce delays, minimize downtime, and maximize equipment availability and productivity.  @VIRTTEX Develop and maintain SOPs, standard work, tracking tools, and documentation to support consistent execution.  Navigate and coordinate effectively across various internal Ford networks (e.g., IT, Facilities, Safety) and external vendors to proactively resolve operational hurdles.  Work directly and collaboratively with Ford Human Factors and Interaction Design researchers to prepare for and execute simulator studies and customer clinics.  Analyze and optimize workflows to improve efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and strengthen support for the broader organization.  Provide hands-on support for simulator systems, including basic troubleshooting, coordination of maintenance, and system readiness for use.  Partner with QSAI engineering and research teams to support simulator setup, configuration, and execution of studies or testing activities.  Support hardware/software updates, tracking, and documentation for simulation systems and lab infrastructure.  What You’ll Bring (Minimum Requirements): Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.  Ability to coordinate complex activities and drive execution across multiple stakeholders.  Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate both operational and technical challenges.  Comfort working in a hands-on environment that includes both administrative coordination and light technical troubleshooting.  Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.  Experience supporting safety-sensitive or compliance-driven environments.  Physical & Environmental Demands:   Ability to lift objects up to 30 lbs.  Ability to move throughout the office/lab/testing site to access equipment and collaborate.  Reliable transportation and the ability to drive to Dearborn, MI regularly for project support.  Bonus Points For: Proficiency in creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.  Experience with procurement coordination, vendor management, or asset tracking.  Experience working with simulators, lab equipment, or technical testing environments.  Exposure to mechanical, electrical, or IT systems (even at a basic troubleshooting level).  Experience supporting engineering, automotive, or prototype development teams.  Familiarity with scripting, data acquisition tools, or simulation software (Python, MATLAB, etc.).  Familiarity with safety and compliance regulations in a technical workplace.  Hobbyist experience in mechanical systems, electronics, or DIY technical projects.  You may not check every box, or your experience may look a little different from what we've outlined, but if you are excited about this role and think you can bring value to Quantum Signal AI, we encourage you to apply! What You’ll Get: Immediate medical, dental, and vision options, FSA, HSA, and company-paid life/disability coverage   Annual performance-based bonus   401(k) plan with company match  Generous PTO based on years of relevant experience, paid holidays  Ford A/X-Plan vehicle discounts   Learning and development program  A relaxed “historic schoolhouse” work environment, on-site gymnasium, free drinks and snacks, and regular optional team activities.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. About QSAI: Founded in 1999 and now a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, Quantum Signal AI is an engineering research and development team focused on realizing the future of mobility. We specialize in building robust technologies that make transportation more effective, efficient, and accessible for everyone.
