    "description": "<p>TDX Adak Generating (TAG) is recruiting for the position of Power Plant Operator. This is a regular full-time position located in Adak, AK. This position reports to the Utility Operations Manager.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">JOB SUMMARY:</span><br></p>\n<p>Responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing all aspects of the Adak power plant. Provide oversight of all daily responsibilities, including coordinating of maintenance, repairs, materials, and equipment, ensuring that the operation of the plant is efficient, within budget and provides a quality product to our customers.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide daily preventive maintenance and repair on plant system.<br></li>\n<li>Perform trouble-shooting analysis on generator sets.<br></li>\n<li>Monitor and safely operate generation set per written guidelines.<br></li>\n<li>Responsible for the procurement of all part and supplies required for the project.<br></li>\n<li>Without direct supervision, solve practical problems with a variety of variables. <br></li>\n<li>Manage emergencies and special support work, such as utility outages and/or any special event(s).<br></li>\n<li>Provide recommendations for the Engineering and Design for any modifications to the existing facility. <br></li>\n<li>Operate a Maintenance Management System, upload data and track on the daily and monthly data reports. <br></li>\n<li>Coordinate all work with workers and/or consumers <br></li>\n<li>Coordinate assigned work priorities.<br></li>\n<li>Responsible for preventative, protective and repair maintenance programs, and oversee quality control inspections.<br></li>\n<li>Act in the role of Public Relations and serve as a central point of contact for customers in Adak.<br></li>\n<li>Respond to consumer complaints.<br></li>\n<li>Comply with all required environmental health and safety programs. <br></li>\n<li>Assist on light building maintenance, daily upkeep/housekeeping, and snow removal.<br></li>\n<li>Must maintain and have an obligation to ensure that all site personnel are appropriately trained in required job skills and duties. <br></li>\n<li>Arrange housing and vehicle rental for employees/contractors who are on site to perform work on various TDX Power projects<br></li>\n<li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">QUALIFICATIONS:</span><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School diploma or equivalent and technical school certificate or 18 months of related experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. <br></li>\n<li>Experience in remote monitoring or similar activity.<br></li>\n<li>Working knowledge of principles of electrical distribution including transformers, power cables, meters, circuit breakers, pumps, etc. is required. <br></li>\n<li>Working knowledge of principles of diesel generation construction and operations to include, but not limited to, electrical controls, electrical connections, electrical safeties, fuel control, specifications, testing, troubleshooting, generators, voltage regulators, use of all common trade tools, meters and equipment as required. <br></li>\n<li>Ability to read and interpret schematics and one-line diagrams.<br></li>\n<li>Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. <br></li>\n<li>Ability to use computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools.<br></li>\n<li>Qualified to operate a forklift, loader, and standard truck.<br></li>\n<li>Broad knowledge in maintenance methods, practices, schedules, logistics and budgets.<br></li>\n<li>Ability to work extended work schedules as required supporting the project execution plans and schedules. <br></li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and relationships.<br></li>\n<li>A valid drivers' license issued by state of residence and in good standing is required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">COMPETENCIES:</span><br></p>\n<p>To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies to perform the essential functions of this position.<br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management and reporting systems.<br></li>\n<li>Strong technical (mechanical/electrical) and organizational skills.<br></li>\n<li>Excellent communication (verbal, written) and interpersonal skills.<br></li>\n<li>Capable of functioning independently and undertake various technical and supervisory roles when required. <br></li>\n<li>Provide outstanding customer service, to external and internal customers. <br></li>\n<li>Able to multi-task.<br></li>\n<li>Excellent project management skills. <br></li>\n<li>Recognizes need for confidentiality and securing of sensitive information</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">NOTES:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by this employee.
