We welcome candidates who can contribute to the excellence of our academic community.</p>\n<h2>Description</h2>\n<p>This position supports pre-clinical (small animal) PET/CT imaging for Emory Investigators (PIs) that onboard research studies to utilize imaging services at the Center for Systems Imaging Core (CSIC). This is a part time position, slated for 20 hours per week.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Independently performs a wide range of highly technical and complex research and laboratory tests and procedures. </li>\n <li>Devises highly specialized research procedures by applying a knowledge of advanced research techniques and equipment. </li>\n <li>Provides input to protocol development. </li>\n <li>Serves as a technical resource for other research personnel. </li>\n <li>Analyzes and interprets the results of studies. </li>\n <li>Investigates and recommends alternative approaches to improve the quality of results. </li>\n <li>Trains research staff in specialized procedures and theoretical concepts for unique tests. </li>\n <li>Recommends new equipment and supplies needed for specialized procedures. </li>\n <li>Provides input into the development of departmental goals and objectives. </li>\n <li>May assist in grant and other funding application preparation. </li>\n <li>Review literature for related research developments and techniques. </li>\n <li>Prepares written materials, charts and graphs on specialized techniques and research results for publication or presentation. </li>\n <li>Oversees quality assurance of research performed by others. </li>\n <li>Monitors the handling, storage and disposal of hazardous substances. </li>\n <li>Performs related responsibilities as required. </li>\n <li>Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>JOB DETAILS: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Operate CSIC’s Molecubes small animal MicroPET/CT scanner system equipment in support of PI study protocol imaging services. </li>\n <li>Oversee QA/QC of imaging quality. </li>\n <li>Assure preventive maintenance/service completed for PET/CT equipment and auxiliary imaging support equipment used in support of PI protocol imaging services.</li>\n <li>Provide technical support and assist PI, as applicable, with microPET/CT imaging protocol development for PI IACUC protocol that requires small animal PET or CT imaging.</li>\n <li>Work with radioactive materials and follow all small animal PET imaging operation protocols to assure compliance with EHSO required safety guidelines for survey documentation, use, handling, and disposal of radioactive materials for core service line operations.</li>\n <li>Assure compliance with all IACUC/DAR regulations/policies for core’s MicroPET/CT service line and serve as point of contact for annual IACUC inspections for core’s service line and equipment.</li>\n <li> Keep detailed log of each completed PI study scan with all required IACUC/EHSO documentation for audit/compliance purposes.</li>\n <li>Coordinate and complete small animal PET/CT imaging appointments for onboarded PI studies.</li>\n <li>Maintain service line supply inventory.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor's degree in a scientific field and four years of research experience, OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience with animal imaging processes/procedures and experience operating animal PET/CT imaging equipment, or similar technical imaging equipment.</li>\n <li>Experience with PET data reconstruction and DICOM file analysis.</li>\n <li>Four years of animal research support experience, preferably working with small animal (rodent) research.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of IACUC guidelines that govern pre-clinical research or ability to quickly acquire and apply this knowledge.</li>\n <li>Experience working with radioactive material and knowledge of radiation safety protocols.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option.
