Responsibilities Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy: Assess, diagnose, and implement nutrition care plans tailored to each patient’s needs. Monitor outcomes such as weight, labs, wound healing, and clinical progress. Educate & Empower: Offer nutrition education to patients, families, staff, and the community. Develop patient-centered materials and resources that support understanding and long-term health. Collaborate with Care Teams: Participate in rounds, patient care conferences, and interdisciplinary meetings. Communicate with providers to ensure safe, cost-effective, and high-quality nutrition therapy. Lead & Mentor: Guide dietetic technicians, interns, and students in delivering nutrition care. Contribute to hospital projects, quality improvement initiatives, and policy development. Drive Quality & Safety: Implement clinical projects, maintain the enteral formulary, and help advance patient safety goals in nutrition services. Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in dietetics or degree that meets the requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required. Individuals credentialed as Registered Dietitians prior to January 1, 2024, are eligible with a Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or degree that meets the requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required. Successful completion of an internship coordinated undergraduate program, or post graduate program accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required. Experience: One year of experience as an acute clinical dietitian for entry level practice or 3+ years’ experience as an acute dietitian for advanced level practice is preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Lic Dietitian - Must hold a current license or certification specific to the state of employment IADHHS – Iowa Department of Health and Human Services IDFPR – Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation Wisconsin Reg Dietitian required CDR – Commission on Dietetic Registration
