    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Responsible for managing a workers’ compensation case load from inception to resolution in the state of New Jersey. Responsibilities include pre-trial discoveries, drafting pleadings, communicating with involved parties, and presenting defense strategies in court. Maintains a solid understanding of AmTrust’s mission, vision, and values. Upholds the standards of the AmTrust organization.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This is a Hybrid work opportunity covering Courts in the State of New Jersey. The position will be out of the Princeton, NJ office</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Independently represents the Employer/Carrier before the assigned Judge of Workers’ Compensation and presents witnesses and evidence at administrative hearings on litigated workers’ compensation claims.</li>\n <li>Analyzes complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal research, independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of the Employer/Carrier.</li>\n <li>Prepares pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies.</li>\n <li>Prepares for, attends, and handles all case-related activities.</li>\n <li>Provides effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims professionals on legal and factual issues.</li>\n <li>Position requires the use of independent judgment, research, litigation and analytical skills.</li>\n <li>Assists in developing training materials for the WC Claims Department.</li>\n <li>Works with the WC Claim Department on special projects related to the practice of workers' compensation.</li>\n <li>Communicates with the Judges’ offices, Claims, witnesses, opposing counsel, and clients in a manner consistent with established office procedures.</li>\n <li>Responsible for the prompt, efficient and effective disposition of assigned cases.</li>\n <li>Keeps current with market trends and demands. Attends Continuing Legal Education seminars to maintain high level of professional expertise.</li>\n <li>Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong><u>Required:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>New Jersey State Bar licensed attorney in good standing.</li>\n <li>Knowledge of New Jersey Workers' Compensation statutes, case law, and local court policies and procedures.</li>\n <li>Strong legal research and writing skills.</li>\n <li>5+ years workers’ compensation litigation experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><u>Preferred:</u></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Defense-based workers’ compensation litigation experience.</li>\n <li>Experience with legal software and dictation.</li>\n <li>Experience with Westlaw.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Microsoft Word.</li>\n <li>State Bar licenses in Pennsylvania and/or New York would be a plus, but is not required.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This job description is designed to provide a general overview of the job and does not entail a comprehensive listing of all activities, duties, or responsibilities that will be required in this position.
