Vocational Trainee -- Inventory Program - Resource Center

Duties and responsibilities: Process incoming donations through inspection, cleaning, testing and organizing in a warehouse environment. Organize and restock goods in our shop. Maintain necessary records of work and supplies Use best safety practices in a warehouse setting. Support other staff and departments as needed. Maintain a trauma informed environment of wellbeing and understanding. Other duties assigned. Learning Objectives & Competencies to be Gained Develop professional and empathetic communication skills Gain tools to remain calm and respond during a “crisis” (a situation is escalating; a person is upset or there is a medical emergency etc.) Gain confidence in communicating challenges and ideas to co-workers, supervisors and managers Communicate tardiness and absences in a timely manner to front desk and direct supervisor Communicate with fellow coworkers and supervisors in a professional and mindful manner Maintain sense of safety for one’s self and others Communicate needs of safety to fellow coworkers and supervisors and address safety concerns immediately Communicate needs or complaints to immediate supervisor should any medications be found, slips, trips, falls, or other sharp objects are found Uphold and communicate ethical standards of practice Conduct honest processing and storage of products Provide consistent and fair distribution (placement) of products and shopping opportunity for all community members Enjoy personal shopping during allocated time blocks for vocational employees Communicate any unethical behaviors to direct supervisor or manager Care for practical needs of the Inventory Department based on ‘Work Station ’ Work Station Area (1) - Bottling Liquid Cleaning Products (ex: laundry soap, dish soap, hand soap & fabric softener) Work Station Area (2) - Company Donation Processing- Work Station Area (3) - Special Products Processing- Work Station Area (4) - Processing Special Items and Special Events- Work Station Area (5) - Process Private Donor or Company Donations Work Station Area (6) - Processing Clothing Timeline to Complete program Training: 4-6 months Proficient: 5-7 months Completion of vocational employment: 8-9 months Skills required for this position consist of: the ability to lift up to 30 pounds Vocational Trainee - Inventory / Donation Intake Location: Adult Resource Center Tuberculosis (TB) screening, testing - TB screening and testing, is required and must be completed prior to hire ( i.e., preplacement), and maintained during employment
