(GISI), the parent company of The LiRo Group and Hill International, Inc. consolidated a portion of the highly experienced staff of both LiRo and Hill in the Northeast to create a larger, more efficient, and cost-effective team to serve clients.  LiRo-Hill is a 1100-person firm with offices in NYC, Long Island, Buffalo, Rochester, Boston and Edison, NJ.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide subject matter expert technical review for consultant projects, including reports, contract plans and specifications for conventional geotechnical as well as dam and flood control projects.</li>\n <li>Provide review of consultant led design work on dam projects.  Types of review may include safety inspections and hazard classification screenings, hazard classification assessments, Engineering Assessments, and contract documents. </li>\n <li>Work as a member of the project design team, both in-house and consultant led, to develop construction level documents for conventional geotechnical and dam projects.</li>\n <li>Prepare, coordinate, and oversee geotechnical field exploration programs for in-house design projects. </li>\n <li>Review of subsurface exploration logs and laboratory geotechnical testing results.</li>\n <li>Prepare and/or review design calculations required to develop geotechnical recommendations.  Types of calculations may be expected to include allowable soil bearing capacity, total and differential settlements, geotechnical capacity of deep foundation systems, excavation support systems, site retaining walls, subgrade modulus for slabs-on-grade, slope stability, and pavement design (both flexible and rigid). </li>\n <li>Development of geotechnical engineering technical memorandums, evaluations, and reports presenting design and construction recommendations for foundations, floor slabs, site development, site retaining walls and below-grade walls, groundwater control, excavation support, and pavement. </li>\n <li>Perform dam safety inspections, including review of existing conditions of earthen embankments and concrete gravity structures, to verify conformance with NYSDEC dam safety regulations and guidelines. </li>\n <li>Perform site visits to provide technical expertise required to address issues which may be encountered during construction.  Additional site visits may be required to address emergency conditions which develop.</li>\n <li>Provide technical assistance to other divisions within OGS D&C.</li>\n <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li>\n <li>Some travel is required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, geology, or related field.</li>\n <li>Master’s degree in civil engineering is a plus.</li>\n <li>Current Professional Engineering License in State of New York or ability to obtain licensure in New York State within 6 months.</li>\n <li>Dam engineering specific experience preferred.</li>\n <li>Competent communication and interpersonal skills.</li>\n <li>Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, experience with dams and water resources is a plus. </li>\n <li>Professional experience in preparing and reviewing contract drawings and technical specifications.</li>\n <li>Basic technical writing proficiency.</li>\n <li>Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.</li>\n <li>AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.</li>\n <li>Proficiency in geotechnical software such as GEOSTUDIO, Rocslide, and LPILE.</li>\n <li>Experience with water resources software such as HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS is a plus.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, and a positive work environment</p>\n<p>Compensation range:  Min: $90,000/yr  - Max: $105,000/yr </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The range provided is the salary that the firm in good faith believes at the time of this posting is willing to pay for the advertised position.
