    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Job Title:</span> Transit Driver</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Reports To:</span> Co-Executive Director</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Location:</span> Lennox/Lincoln County</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Status:</span> Part-Time</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">FLSA Status:</span> Non-Exempt</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">SUMMARY</span></p>\n<p>Under the direct supervision of the Co-Executive Directors in the Watertown and Sisseton offices, the Transit Driver is responsible for transporting passengers over specified routes in the Lennox/Lincoln County area, as well as medical and veteran trips to various locations across the region.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drive bus on scheduled routes to transport the public</li>\n<li>Perform pre-trip inspection checks to ensure all functions of the bus are accurately operating to ensure compliance with regulatory safety precautions</li>\n<li>Perform routine and operational maintenance on the bus and report to proper personnel all routine maintenance and repairs including needed oil changes, tire repairs and changes, physical damage to vehicles, flushes, etc.</li>\n<li>Comply with all traffic regulations and report any accidents</li>\n<li>Keep interior and exterior of vehicles clean</li>\n<li>Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort</li>\n<li>Communicate with dispatcher as to delays and/or problems with passenger pick up</li>\n<li>Keep bus fueled</li>\n<li>Assist passengers in boarding(s) and with packages as necessary</li>\n<li>Collect donations or fares, count and submit to office</li>\n<li>Project a positive image to the public and provide exceptional customer service skills speaking in a friendly and professional manner</li>\n<li>Perform duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies</li>\n<li>Submit daily time sheets and complete daily and monthly bus reports</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Do not smoke on or near the bus and do not allow others to do so either</li>\n<li>Attend meetings, trainings, or seminars as requested</li>\n<li>Perform duties in a manner consistent with safe practices and policies</li>\n<li>Perform other such duties and functions as deemed necessary</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:</span></p>\n<p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safe driving record</li>\n<li>Demonstrated ability to drive all transit vehicles in a safe manner</li>\n<li>Maintain good personal hygiene at all times and wear the uniforms provided</li>\n<li>Ability to operate a variety of communication equipment, including two-way radio, mobile telephone and computer mobile dispatch, and scheduling transit system</li>\n<li>Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide using numbers</li>\n<li>Effective in communication with Transit staff and the public</li>\n<li>Ability to apply common sense understanding to perform detailed but uninvolved written and verbal instructions</li>\n<li>Ability to work with and get along with a variety of people and personalities by being courteous, respectful and helpful</li>\n<li>Ability to be punctual</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High School diploma or G.E.D.</li>\n<li>Ability to complete reports by writing and adding numbers</li>\n<li>Ability to carry out verbal instructions</li>\n<li>A reliable employment history demonstrating punctuality and good attendance</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND EXAMINATIONS:</span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Valid South Dakota Driver’s License</li>\n<li>A South Dakota Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement is not required, but is preferred</li>\n<li>Federal regulations require pre-employment, reasonable, suspicious, random, post-accident and return to duty and return to duty drug and alcohol testing</li>\n<li>Ability to pass a pre-employment background check</li>\n<li>Maintain current training and certifications as deemed necessary for transit operations including but not limited to CPR, First Aid, PASS (wheelchair lift) training for ramp, lift and securement, passenger sensitivity, defensive driving, fire safety and evacuation training, etc.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
