Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has six campuses that serve approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12th grade. The Opportunity Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, the Lead Campus Aide will coordinate and help to supervise students in non-classroom activities before, during and after school hours. This position requires working both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The Lead Campus Aide ensures student safety and compliance with school and CNCA policies and regulations. The Lead Campus Aide will lead the Campus Aides on campus in support of site leadership. Responsibilities Set a positive tone and build team morale by modeling professionalism, fostering collaboration, and promoting a supportive and solutions-oriented work environment. Assist in the creation and modification of supervision schedule based on changing needs of the school Create playground schedule for grade levels with assigned play areas as applicable (if serving at a K-8 school site) Serve as a liaison between the campus aide team and school staff Monitor and supervise student activities both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times by following established safety protocols and using appropriate judgment Monitor and supervise student behavior during non-classroom activities before, during and after school hours to maintain safe campus environment Communicate recess and/or lunchtime plans and structure to teachers, staff and administration Monitor restrooms, buildings, halls, walkways, eating areas, and parking lots for unauthorized activities Monitor student behavior, address and redirect inappropriate student conduct and report more serious infractions to school administrators for possible disciplinary action Direct and accompany students and visitors around campus Effectively respond to Tier I & Tier II behavior issues by utilizing CNCA-adopted behavior management structures and protocols such as No Bully, Restorative Justice practices, etc… Assist school administration with contacting of families regarding student behavior concerns and in discussing campus security with parent and community groups Escort ill students to office Operate a two-way radio to communicate with school personnel Assist in the creation and submission of incident and other reports related to student discipline & attendance Report unusual activities on campus to appropriate personnel including the Lead Campus Aide, Assistant Principal, or Principal Investigate and report incidents of persons loitering on or near the campus and students leaving or congregating off school grounds without permission Identify and report damage to school property and safety hazards that may compromise student or staff safety Observe and check students who appear to be loitering and are out of class and determine appropriate action Check for visitors’ passes and direct or escort general public to the administration office, in accordance with campus sign-in procedures Monitor parking lots for proper parking procedures and traffic flow as requested Assist with crowd control at school events May assist in campus emergency situations to ensure the safety and security of students and staff as directed by appropriate personnel May prepare routine statements related to incidents occurring on school campus Support school with translation services during peak hours or as requested Support school office staff as back up clerical support during peak hours as requested Attend training and participate in professional development as requested Other duties as assigned NON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation and bullying in educational programs, activities, or employment on the basis of actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, parental, pregnancy, family or marital status, military status or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics. The Lead Campus Aide will lead the Campus Aides on campus in support of site leadership.\\n\\n \\n\\nResponsibilities\\n\\n\\n\\tSet a positive tone and build team morale by modeling professionalism, fostering collaboration, and promoting a supportive and solutions-oriented work environment.\\n\\tAssist in the creation and modification of supervision schedule based on changing needs of the school\\n\\tCreate playground schedule for grade levels with assigned play areas as applicable (if serving at a K-8 school site)\\n\\tServe as a liaison between the campus aide team and school staff\\n\\tMonitor and supervise student activities both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions, ensuring a safe and secure environment at all times by following established safety protocols and using appropriate judgment\\n\\tMonitor and supervise student behavior during non-classroom activities before, during and after school hours to maintain safe campus environment\\n\\tCommunicate recess and/or lunchtime plans and structure to teachers, staff and administration\\n\\tMonitor restrooms, buildings, halls, walkways, eating areas, and parking lots for unauthorized activities\\n\\tMonitor student behavior, address and redirect inappropriate student conduct and report more serious infractions to school administrators for possible disciplinary action\\n\\tDirect and accompany students and visitors around campus\\n\\tEffectively respond to Tier I &amp; Tier II behavior issues by utilizing CNCA-adopted behavior management structures and protocols such as No Bully, Restorative Justice practices, etc…\\n\\tAssist school administration with contacting of families regarding student behavior concerns and in discussing campus security with parent and community groups\\n\\tEscort ill students to office\\n\\tOperate a two-way radio to communicate with school personnel\\n\\tAssist in the creation and submission of incident and other reports related to student discipline &amp; attendance\\n\\tReport unusual activities on campus to appropriate personnel including the Lead Campus Aide, Assistant Principal, or Principal\\n\\tInvestigate and report incidents of persons loitering on or near the campus and students leaving or congregating off school grounds without permission\\n\\tIdentify and report damage to school property and safety hazards that may compromise student or staff safety\\n\\tObserve and check students who appear to be loitering and are out of class and determine appropriate action\\n\\tCheck for visitors’ passes and direct or escort general public to the administration office, in accordance with campus sign-in procedures\\n\\tMonitor parking lots for proper parking procedures and traffic flow as requested\\n\\tAssist with crowd control at school events\\n\\tMay assist in campus emergency situations to ensure the safety and security of students and staff as directed by appropriate personnel\\n\\tMay prepare routine statements related to incidents occurring on school campus\\n\\tSupport school with translation services during peak hours or as requested\\n\\tSupport school office staff as back up clerical support during peak hours as requested\\n\\tAttend training and participate in professional development as requested\\n\\tOther duties as assigned\\n\\n\\n \\n\\n \\n\\n \\n\\nNON-DISCRIMINATION STATEMENT\\n\\nCamino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation and bullying in educational programs, activities, or employment on the basis of actual or perceived ancestry, age, color, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, parental, pregnancy, family or marital status, military status or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
