Our Science teachers work relentlessly with their teammates to ensure that all of their students not only are able to master the discipline-specific topics set forth in the North Carolina Science standards (NSCOS) but realize life-long success in STEM fields. RTHS sees success in Science coursework as the gateway to STEM fields in both college and career.  This goal is only possible through the support of excellent instruction with a collaborative instructional team deploying next generation instructional and data analysis techniques. The ideal candidate will foster a rigorous, engaging classroom environment aligned with state standards while supporting diverse learners in developing environmental literacy and problem-solving skills.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span>As a Science Teacher, you’ll teach a course load of science topics that will include the following activities:</span><br></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Excellent Instruction: </span></span><span>You lead excellent Science instruction in your classrooms that drives student mastery of science topics. Through your instructional experience you lean into the school’s instructional model including the efficient use of technology, didactic instruction, laboratory studies, collaborative learning, project learning, and at-home learning. </span></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Student and Family Community: </span></span><span>You develop a strong learning community within your classroom and with families by establishing yourself as the leader of your classroom. This includes strong classroom management, building connections with students, and supporting their personal development. You will also support the school in its regular parent engagement activities, helping parents understand their student’s academic achievement, possibilities for at-home learning, and appropriate social emotional development. </span></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Curricular Planning and Design:</span></span><span> You work with the academic team to implement a rigorous curriculum through unit plans and lessons that meet the needs of all students with clear, standard aligned objectives and appropriate assessments to gauge student comprehension. </span></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Professional Learning Activities:</span></span><span> You receive bi-weekly feedback through coaching meetings meant to help you internalize content, practice teaching moves, grow classroom management, and other teaching techniques to improve your practice. </span></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Data-Driven Culture: </span></span><span>You participate in a data-driven culture among your fellow teachers, grade-level Science teammates, and the Science department as a whole to analyze and respond to student achievement data. You regularly use assessments from your curriculum, provided by the academic team, or made by yourself. </span></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Engage in Collaboration: </span></span><span>You participate in a collaborative learning environment with other Science team members to co–plan, examine grade-level articulation, conduct student work analysis, enable peer feedback, and customize just-in-time Professional Development. You participate in schoolwide disciplinary literacy and writing techniques shared from ELA coursework and with teachers in other subject areas. You support the school’s strategic initiatives whether they apply to your grade-level, department, or whole-school focus. </span><br></span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">In addition, we are looking for a candidate who can provide the following: </span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan and deliver standards-aligned instruction in Chemistry (e.g., Honors, AP, or general chemistry courses)</li>\n<li>Develop and facilitate hands-on laboratory investigations that reinforce key concepts<br></li>\n<li>Incorporate scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and data analysis into daily instruction</li>\n<li>Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners</li>\n<li>Assess student learning using a variety of formative and summative strategies</li>\n<li>Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with students and families</li>\n<li>Ensure proper use, storage, and disposal of laboratory chemicals and equipment in accordance with safety guidelines<br></li>\n<li>Integrate technology and digital tools to enhance student learning</li>\n<li>Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes academic success and scientific curiosity<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">QUALIFICATIONS</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Our science teachers are passionate about developing life-long scientists.
