    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The D341 Structural Welding Engineering Construction Support group provides technical support and regulatory services to Electric Boat’s Quonset Point (QP) facility core business, welding. D341 retains technical cognizance of and provides interpretation to procedures and specifications, as well as regulates the welding program as a whole by directly integrating with all related customers. D341 is looking for a qualified engineering candidate that exhibits the ability to provide on-job technical support, conduct problem resolution, write technical dispositions, lead special projects, and carry out small/medium/large quality corrective action tasks. Regular responsibilities of the qualified candidate include, but are not limited to: </p>\n<ul>\n <li>Providing technical guidance for the application of all major welding processes (GMAW, SMAW, SAW, and GTAW)</li>\n <li>Writing technical dispositions in support of Engineering Reports, Change Notices, Welding Engineering Instructions, Major Technical Submittals, UNSATs/TIRs, Etc.</li>\n <li>Maintaining procedural and specification compliance oversight for submarine structural documents (NAVSEA specifications, EB standard procedures, and design drawings) </li>\n <li>Conducting on-job structural welding, fit-up, pre-heat, and etc. audits to ensure procedural compliance in various work centers at QP</li>\n <li>Performing root cause analyses and evaluating problem resolution strategies for a wide variety of issues as required</li>\n <li>Coordinating with functional area leads to identify opportunities for process improvement and/or alternate weld process</li>\n <li>Supporting upper management performance tracking goals by maintaining D341 cognizant data inputs and reports</li>\n <li>Providing technical support to welding robotic installations as needed</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The qualified candidate will report to the D341 Structural Welding Engineering supervisor at Electric Boat’s North Kingstown, RI location.</p>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Required: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science Degree in Welding Engineering, Metallurgy/Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering</li>\n <li>0-5 years of experience in an industrial welding environment, shipbuilding, or other heavy fabrication</li>\n <li>Experience with technical writing (procedures, reports, briefings, memos, other submittals)</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Advanced degree in Welding Engineering or Metallurgy/Materials Joining Engineering</li>\n <li>Prior welding experience or education</li>\n <li>Hands-on experience working with all major welding processes</li>\n <li>Problem resolution and global issue bounding experience</li>\n <li>History working with SUPSHIP and/or other on-site NAVY representative organizations </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Familiarity with quality audits and surveillances </li>\n <li>Must be able to read and interpret company policies and procedures</li>\n <li>Advanced computer skills including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Project, and PowerPoint (or equivalent)</li>\n <li>Has excellent oral and written communication skills</li>\n <li>Works effectively individually and in teams</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Qualifications</h2>Climbing, Color Vision, Crawling, Kneeling, Light Lifting, Medium Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Reaching, Stooping, Twisting\n<h2>Environmental Attributes</h2>Cold, Dusty, Fumes, Hot, Inside",
