Housing Supervisor

Vacancy Status: This is a newly created role for an existing vacancy

Work Schedule:
Tuesday – Saturday; 11:00 AM-7:00 PM (every other week)
Monday – Friday; 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM (every other week)
Reports To: Senior Manager, Housing
Closing Date: Thursday, June 4 at 5:00 p.m. EST
Friends of Ruby is dedicated to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth aged 16-29 through mental health services, social programs, and housing. We operate a Youth Drop-In Centre, offering barrier-free counselling, hot meals, and community programming, and a Transitional Home, providing emergency and long-term housing with life-skills support. This position will support the Transitional Home.

About the Role
As a Housing Supervisor , you will be responsible for :
Provide direct supervision, leadership, and performance management to housing staff through regular supervision meetings, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluations, conflict resolution, and support with professional growth and accountability.
Oversee day-to-day housing operations and service delivery by ensuring effective program coordination, facility management, intake and discharge processes, staffing coverage, and adherence to organizational and regulatory standards.
Provide clinical support and guidance to staff in responding to complex service user needs , including crisis intervention, de-escalation, safety planning, mental health and substance use concerns, housing stabilization, and service coordination.
Collaborate with internal clinical teams and external community partners to ensure coordinated care planning, appropriate referrals , continuity of care, and responsive support for residents.
Monitor program quality, staff documentation, and service outcomes to ensure compliance with City of Toronto standards, Ministry requirements, organizational policies, and best practices in supportive housing and youth services.
Support workforce planning and staffing operations through scheduling, onboarding, training, payroll review, and participation in recruitment and employee development processes.
What You Bring
Undergraduate degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Valid certifications in CPR/First Aid, UMAB (Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour ), and Trauma-Informed Care.
3–5 years of progressive experience in supportive housing, shelter services, mental health, addictions, homelessness, or related community-based services.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience, including staff leadership, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
Demonstrated experience supporting frontline staff working with complex and high-acuity populations, including crisis intervention and case consultation.
Strong knowledge of trauma- informed , harm reduction, anti-oppressive, and affirming approaches to service delivery.
Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) (RSW or RP), or another recognized counselling regulatory college is considered an asset.
