Description
Under the direction of the Early Head Start Education Coordinator, provides comprehensive home-based services to eligible pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and their families. This position supports family engagement, child development, health, nutrition, and school readiness through weekly home visits and group socialization activities.
Responsibilities
• Provides weekly home visiting services lasting 1.5 hours to assigned families (on average 12 families a week) that promote positive parent-child interactions, child development, and health and safety practices using curriculum and other educational materials aligned with best-practice model standards.
• Provides information, referrals, and connections to available community resources.
• Connects families with medical providers to support optimal health and development, including timely immunizations, well-child visits, and other preventive care.
• Administers developmental screenings and tools within required timelines.
• Develop individualized home visit plans and developmentally appropriate activities based on the needs of the child and family.
• Deliver child development, health, nutrition, and family support information during home visits.
• Support parents in strengthening positive parent-child interactions and promoting early learning in the home environment.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records, documentation, and reports.
• Facilitates collaborative relationships and coordinates services with program partners and other community agencies.
• Participate in supervision, staff meetings, training, recruitment activities, and other program functions as assigned.
• Demonstrate professionalism, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to family-centered practice
• Assist with group socialization activities and family engagement opportunities.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
• Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education/Development or Nursing (preferred)
• Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential through Council for Professional Recognition equivalent or the ability to obtain within 18 months
• Family Services Certificate or equivalent or ability to obtain within 18 months
• Experience working with the community with an emphasis on home visiting, early childhood or family support setting (preferred)
• A valid Ohio driver’s license with access to reliable transportation, and proof of insurance will be required.
• Must meet initial and ongoing background checks including BCI, FBI, and Ohio Department of Children and Youth background checks.
