This role requires strong welding, rigging, and layout skills within a structural steel fabrication shop environment.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Responsibilities &amp; Skills</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Fabrication &amp; Welding</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Minimum 5+ years&rsquo; experience performing structural layout and positioning of steel components on large weldments using engineering drawings (DWGs)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Minimum 5+ years&rsquo; welding experience</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Proficient in MIG, Stick, and TIG welding</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ability to easily pass internal weld testing</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Capable of performing multi-pass welds and welding various wire thicknesses including specialized wires (ex: hard facing)</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Recognize good and bad welds per Mellott standards and repair subpar welds prior to QA inspection</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Layout &amp; Measurement</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Competent performing layout using DWGs, sketches, or verbal instruction</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Proficient with layout tools including squares, tape measures, lasers, string lines, torpedo levels, 2&rsquo;, 4&rsquo;, 6&rsquo;, and 8&rsquo; levels, combination squares, and angle finders</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Able to read measuring tools to 1/16&rdquo; or 1 mm as drawings require</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Strong math skills used daily to ensure weldments are square, level, and correctly positioned</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Understanding of maintaining fabrication tolerances as specified on drawings</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Rigging &amp; Equipment Operation</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Minimum 5+ years&rsquo; rigging or millwright experience</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Ability to safely handle and flip large weldments using jib and bridge cranes</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Familiar with operating forklifts, telehandlers, manlifts, overhead cranes, metal saws, press brakes, iron workers, and similar equipment</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Trained in basic rigging principles and techniques</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Work Environment &amp; Expectations</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Comfortable working in a structural steel fabrication shop with multiple welding stations</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Coordinate fitment of components on weldments produced by other departments</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Good communication skills in a loud shop environment</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Willing to take instruction from leads and supervision</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Team player with safety as priority one</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Participate in safety toolbox meetings</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Assist managers, foremen, or superintendents as directed</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Capable of completing work within estimated fabrication timeframes and monitoring hours applied to projects</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Willingness to work out-of-town for up to two weeks at a time, as required</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Willingness to work off campus at a customer&rsquo;s facility, as required</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Comfortable working off hours or overtime as needed to complete projects</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Education &amp; Certifications</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">High school diploma or GED</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">AWS D1.1 welding certification, or ability to obtain certification</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Willingness to further education through apprenticeship or job skills training offered by the company</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Basic first aid training</li></ul><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Additional Information</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">This job description is not designed to cover a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required for the role.
