Our shipyard is conveniently located in the Mid-Atlantic region at the port of Hampton Roads, Norfolk Virginia.</p><p><strong>JOB SUMMARY:&nbsp;</strong>Directs the daily activities of the Electrical Department</p><p><strong>SUPERVISES:&nbsp;</strong>Electrical Leadsperson, Specialist, 1st-3rd Class Electricians, Handyman, Helper</p><p><br></p><p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: &nbsp;</strong></p><p>1.Supervises the activities of the Electrical Department personnel directly or indirectly and maximizes efficiency and productivity of supervisors and production workers. Assigns Leadspersons to available jobs. &nbsp;Responsible for resolving issues with regard to day-to-day operations.</p><p>2. Confers with Production Manager, other Superintendents and subcontractors to coordinate work schedules and prioritize work. Estimates work ensuring proper workflow.</p><p>3. Ensures that machinery and equipment are properly maintained for efficient production and eliminates wasteful practices within the department. Responsible for identifying improved methods, and efficient and economical utilization of materials. Orders new equipment and material as needed for ongoing jobs.</p><p>4.Conducts ship checks to ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices and on time performance. Writes procedures for Electrical Department and training outlines.</p><p>5. Maintains good employee relations practices within his department and takes corrective action as required.</p><p>6. Recommends the hiring and release of Electrical personnel as required to maintain production schedule.</p><p>7. Establishes accountabilities and goals used for performance evaluation and conducts training.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p><p>1. Keeps records of departmental activities as required.</p><p>2. May use hand tools and instruments associated with the trade.</p><p>3. Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals.</p><p>4. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p><p>1. High school diploma or equivalent.&nbsp;</p><p>2. Ten years of related work experience with increasing supervisory responsibilities.</p><p>3. Vocational school or technical college training. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;</p><p>4. Must have knowledge of a variety of concepts, practices, and procedures and safety measures of the craft.</p><p>5. &nbsp;Ability to multi-task and prioritize.</p><p>6. &nbsp;Requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to motivate others.</p><p>7.
