The assistant coach works closely with the head coach, athletic director, and school administration to ensure the program aligns with the mission and values of the school.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Assist the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practices, games, and team activities.</li><li>Teach fundamental and advanced basketball skills, strategies, and conditioning appropriate for high school athletes.</li><li>Support player development on and off the court, focusing on sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and leadership.</li><li>Help manage game-day operations, including scouting opponents, developing strategies, and ensuring athletes are prepared.</li><li>Monitor and support student-athletes’ academic performance, encouraging balance between athletics and academics.</li><li>Assist with equipment management, inventory, and uniform distribution/collection.</li><li>Uphold and enforce all school, conference, and IHSA (or state association) policies and regulations.</li><li>Promote a safe and respectful environment for athletes, maintaining high standards of conduct and discipline.</li><li>Collaborate with the Head Coach and Athletic Director on scheduling, transportation, and program communication with players and families.</li><li>Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student-athletes.</li></ul>",
