Description Position Overview This position requires physical and manual labor. This position may require moving and setting-up equipment, working outside on grounds, and /or helping with preventative maintenance. Employment is per semester. Hours per Week Up to 25 hours per week. College/Department Overview Wellness Center Intramural & Sports and Recreation. Department Specific Job Functions Intramural student workers’ purpose is to establish and ensure the safety of intramural participants by officiating different organized sports and events associated with recreation programs. These responsibilities include enforcing all wellness center policies and procedures, exhibiting excellent customer service skills, and a willingness to go out of their way for others. These responsibilities are paramount to the overall success of the programs and services offered by the department. The Intramural Sports and Recreation student worker is additionally responsible for and not limited to setting up events, communicating with participants and vendors on a regular basis, organizing and cleaning equipment. Other duties are as assigned. Enrollment Requirements Fall/Spring Semesters : All student employees must be enrolled at least half-time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half-time enrollment for fall/spring semesters is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates. International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates. Summer Semester : Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position. Enrollment Exception : If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. This pertains to both regular and Federal Work Study Program positions. Contact [email protected] for more information. Qualifications/Experience Required Character Traits : Dependable and thorough. Show initiative. Have sensitivity of intercultural communication, and good interpersonal skills. Abilities : Ability to stand and walk regularly for long periods of time. Ability to use hands regularly. Ability to reach with hands and arms frequently. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl regularly. Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 10 pounds regularly. Ability to lift, push, or pull over 10 pounds occasionally. Occasionally, as directed by supervisor, lifting up to 50 lbs. Constant running, jogging, and walking. Repetitive movement of hands and fingers – typing and/or writing. Frequent standing, and/or sitting. Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching. Reach with hands and arms. Visually identify, observe and assess. Ability to communicate with supervisor/students/colleagues. Qualifications/Experience Preferred Previous general knowledge of sports. Previous participation in a team or individual sport. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Detail oriented. Physical Demands Reasonable accommodation, in accordance with ADA requirements, may be made upon request to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

International students must be enrolled full-time to be eligible to work as a student employee. Full-time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.\\r\\n\\r\\nSummer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in fall classes in order to work during the summer, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position.\\r\\n\\r\\nEnrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources.
