    "description": "<p>Commodity Handler Position Summary:</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Norfolk Crush is a facility that processes 110k bushels of soybeans daily into soybean oil, soybean meal, and soy hull pellets. Commodity Handlers will operate the plant both physically in the field and by computer control. This includes monitoring of the flow of materials through the process and ensuring the highest quality standards and put through.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</p>\n<p>§ Day-to-day operations of the plant, including loading and unloading commodities, communication of maintenance issues, assisting maintenance, ensuring production targets are met, and daily cleaning.</p>\n<p>§ Provide operational information of the plant including product inventories and quality.</p>\n<p>§ Oversee all plant process and performance including, but not limited to taking field measurements, testing field instruments for accuracy, monitoring critical safety devices, and communicating maintenance issues.</p>\n<p>§ Lead, coach, and mentor peer Operators to achieve goals and ensure the safe and efficient operation, production, and continuous improvement of the plant.</p>\n<p>§ Communicate to plant leadership any operational, logistical, or technical issues, including any mechanical breakdowns.</p>\n<p>§ Maintains and adheres to quality standards in the plant that satisfy the requirements of ISO standards along with working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Assurance Technician.</p>\n<p>§ Maintain designated sanitary schedule to plant standards.</p>\n<p>§ Advise plant management of any staffing requirements, operational issues or shortcomings that could affect the operations.</p>\n<p>§ Provide leadership point of view that promotes customer service, teamwork, personal accountability, cooperation, and career development.</p>\n<p>§ Work closely with the Safety Director to monitor and validate the plant safety program to include permitting, monitoring of contractors, and communication of an violations.</p>\n<p>§ Adhere to plant operational policies and procedures and leads plant safety initiatives and instills safety-based behaviors in constant pursuit of zero lost-time and incidents. Is the primary contact with local authorities and ensures adherence to all legal and regulatory aspects of running the operation: OSHA, EPA, Department of Ag, etc.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Qualifications:</p>\n<p>§ 1+ years’ manufacturing experience in feed/food/chemical processing plant knowledge preferred.</p>\n<p>§ Proven leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, motivate and manage performance of team members.</p>\n<p>§ Ability to be available for help as needed when off shift. Will work during annual shutdown week.</p>\n<p>§ Must have effective oral and written communication across different levels and departments.</p>\n<p>§ Desire and ability to contribute to a team environment across departments and shifts.</p>\n<p>§ Strong knowledge of quality specifications using identification and data gathering skills</p>\n<p>§ Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to help the maintenance department when needed.</p>\n<p>§ Must have good computer skills.</p>\n<p>Business Acumen:</p>\n<p>§ Technical Knowledge and Skills – Experience with bioprocessing or related industrial production (crushing, refinery, roasting production, etc.); experience with large scale production equipment, automation, troubleshooting, repairs, and oversite of key vendors; combined technical and process (chemistry, bioprocess) understanding important to have success in this position.</p>\n<p>§ Building a Successful Team - Using appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to help build a cohesive team and facilitate the completion of team goals; facilitates goal accomplishment and provides necessary resources or helps to remove obstacles to team accomplishments; listens to and fully involves others in team decisions and actions; values and uses individual differences and talents; models commitment and demonstrates personal commitment to the team.</p>\n<p>§ Planning and Organizing - Establishing courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently. Prioritizes, determines project/assignment requirements by breaking them down into tasks and identifying types of equipment, materials, and people needed; leverages resource and takes advantage of available resources (individuals, processes, departments, and tools) to complete work efficiently; coordinates with internal and external partners.</p>\n<p>§ Decision Making - Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.</p>\n<p>§ Innovative - Generating innovative solutions in work situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Working Conditions &amp; Physical Requirements:</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>§ Ability to frequently bend, squat, climb, sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach above shoulder level, use fine finger movements and push/pull.</p>\n<p>§ Ability to occasionally kneel.</p>\n<p>§ Ability to frequently carry/lift light to heavy loads of up to 50 lbs.</p>\n<p>§ Ability to work 12hr work days 7am to 7pm.
